SOURCE: kia sorento diesel engine

could be you have a few bad glow plugs or a relay for them or a bad glow plug controler. the glow plugs are basicly a direct short that creates heat that warms the air in the cylinder to aid initial start.they can be checked wiyh an ohm meter. remove the wire and place one lead on the wire connecter of the plug the other to a good should have good connectivity. if not replace the plug

While merging onto the highway when my car hit 3 and 4th gear the engine seemed to "stutter/misfire" during harder acceleration. Check engine light also flashed briefly during hard acceleration. Dur

Could be a transmission problem or something as simple as bad spark plugs.
The engine is under the most load when RPM is low and you are trying to accelerate, such as when it upshifts.
You should have the computer checked for trouble codes and hopefully that will point you in the right direction to test.
If the spark plugs have more than 50,000 miles of wear you might start with replacing them.

Santa fe sputters from idle

There are a few thing that could cause this to happen, the first thing is that you need to make sure the check engine light is not on, if it is or not still have the computer scanned for any codes, the computer is always watching the operation of the engine and if there is a problem it will store a code and turn check engine light on to warn you of the problem, the code will come out as a set of letters and numbers and tell you were the problem is. it will not tell you whats wrong but just the component that is failing and then with some testing the problem can be found.

the sputtering you speak off could be due to a coil that is bad and causing engine to misfire, or even a vacuum leak or spark plug.
There are many auto part stores that will scan the computer for free and give you the codes, start by having the codes read and then write me back with the codes. Here is an example of a code, let say code po301 cyl 1 misfire , came up as one of the codes.

As you can read it tells you that cylinder # 1 is misfiring, then we would check the coil for that cylinder and the sprak plug first.

make sure to get the complete code, good day.

Misfire low fuel on start cylinder 5, 6

While the engine is running pull the spark plug wires on one cylinder at a time (assuming you can do so safely). When you pull a write you should notice the engine stutter, if you pull one and nothing happens that cylinder had a spark problem and you should change the plugs and wires, all six, even if only one doesn't respond.

Hi all. i'm new to this landrover game, i have a '03' reg freelander td4 when pulling away and steady throttle i am experiencing a rattle/knock from the engine, the car stutters slightly and has black...

it sounds to me like you have a faulty injector from the symptoms you suggest would get injectors tested
one thing you can try when car is running if you slacken injetor pipes one at a time .you should find the faulty one if thats your problem

99 Toyota Corolla multiple misfire problem

This is what you need to do, change the plug wires, because if there is a bad wire you would definitely experiences sputter or a stutter, so do the plug wires and at the same time do the spark plugs, this should take care of your problem. if not let me know and i will give you the next step

2000 Focus Zetec-rough idle, very rough under load.

you haven't said if its petrol or diesel so i'm assuming its petrol since your smelling sulfur sounds if you have a misfire causes could be plugs, leads or ign coil i suspect its ign coil these are common to go.

Mazda MPV 2004 - Stutters, check engine light came on

chances are fairly good it's the coils - I've posted about this on Edmunds. the OEM design is truely idiotic & has a vent that allows moisture down into the plug well - that shorts the spark & causes misfires. On our 2004 MPV I got away w/cleaning & drying them extremely carefully then sealing the vent w/silicone as a temp measure, then ordered perfect replacement after-market coils off ebay that sealed the wells & stopped the problem -and- were a tiny fraction of the OEM price.  good luck, BK

Your right sounds like head GSK. I would try a compresion balance test first and if cyl. 3 fails pull the valve cover and inspect the vavle guides for wair or bent valve.
