We had this problem on our H2. Ends up that we had to buy a new instrument cluster. In the mean time we used the speed calibration on our GPS unit to say out of tickets. A year later we finally replaced the cluster. Check out the Hummer forums for best places to buy.

Speedometer quit working on my 97 susuki marauder. Cable seems to be in ok shape.

Pull the cable out of the transmission and twirl the gear on the end of the cable, while someone watches the speedometer needle for slight movement. If the needle doesn't move, the cable probably broke. They often break close to that end, sometimes farther along the cable. Buy a replacement cable and fit it on. You will have to unsnap it from the back of the speedometer to replace. Unless you can get your hand up under to the cable end, you may have to pull out the instrument cluster-just a few inches to get your hand in back of the cluster. It is usually a pinch type fitting. Pinch or squeeze together the retainer to pull from the speedo.

Speedometer its not working

check to make sure the speedometer cable is still hooked into the transmission, if it is try taking it out and turning the cable by hand have someone watch the speedometer on the dash to see if it moves, if it doesnt move then the cable needs to be replaced

Speedometer on 82 chevy scottsdale not working

Check the transmission where the speedo cable goes into. It's located at the back of the trans. Removed the small cable retainer bolt and pull the cable out. See if the gear is broken. If it's not broken, have an assistant watch the speedometer in the truck and spin the gear at the end of the cable by hand as quick as you can and see if the assistant see if the speedo moves. If it doesn't move, replace the cable. It's most likely broken inside the housing or where it attaches to the back of the speedometer.

Speedometer needle doesn't move

I assume you don't have any other problems except this, if that is the case the speedo needle drive motor is defective more than likely, pull the cluster out and send it to an authorized GM instrument cluster repair center. Check the internet for ones to contact.

I recently purchased a 1992 Honda Accord with a recent transmission replacement. The Odometer and speedometer does not work. I do not know if it worked before the transmission was replaced or if this is...

Pull the speedometer cable out of the transmission and spin it by hand while someone watches the speedometer. Spin it both directions to make sure you are spining it the right way. If the speedometer moves the problem is either the gear in your hand of the gear in the transmission. If it doesn't spin either the cable is no good or maybe unhooked in the dashboard

Common problem on the 03-06 Cavalier instrument clusters for the gauges to start going out. It's caused by failing stepper motors on the circuit board of the speedometer cluster. Check out his page for more about it and how to get it fixed - Cavalier speedometer repair

It is either stuck and will need to be moved by hand or you need a new speedometer cable or censor.

I have just replaced the heater core in my 98 dodge dakota and my speedometer is stuck on 120 what shall i do

when you had the dash on its way out it got tilted and the free moving hand in the speedometer floated around the ring,
now you have to remove the cluster and hold it up side down to get the needle to float back to the other side of the stop pin.
or, drill a small hole at the base of the speedometer and take a piece of wire to move the needle,
good luck

Speedometer reading is off

The hand is usually pushed onto the speedo on splines so dismantle until you can get the hand then pull it off and put it to 0 and push it back on.
