Question about Pontiac Aztek
The door ajar light will not turn off when door is shut
Sometimes you can get something caught in the door, like the unused seat belt or a floor mat. The mechanism might be faulty, or the light itself. I'd suggest closing the door more firmly, after making sure nothing is getting caught in it. Then if it is still on, you might want to take it to a shop. Good luck.

SOURCE: Door Ajar Warning Light Stays On
Our Ford Expedition & an Olds Silhouette Premier & both did the same thing. Someone online said to spray the inside door where the metal connects with the frame & sensors are there with WD-40. We did & it fixed the problem. Maybe this will work for yours.

SOURCE: Door ajar light
The sensor for the lights is in the door latch spray some GOOD penetrant in the door latch (WD 40 IS NOT A PENETRATING OIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) open and shut the door several times after you let the penetrant soak a bit Liquid wrench, PB Blaster, BG Penetrant, are good
