Need to locate the air pump that supplies the rear shocks.

The pump is back under the rear of car, but by now, the shocks are sure to be leaking, which causes the pump to run too much burning it up. Best fix is to replace rear shocks with coils and dump the self leveling feature, or prepare to pay big bucks to replace most components.

What does the leveler light on dash mean?

Its part of the auto load leveling system. It pumps air to the rear shocks until you reach level condition. Usually only when you first start the vehicle.

Pump noise in rear of car keeps running / Gas pump or load leveller / seems longer run time olately in cold weather ( 1999 olds aurora)

you might have a leak in the rear suspension load leveler. check connections with soapy water. locate where sound is coming from. fuel pump in tank is a slight hum and not that noticable, but the air comp for load leveler is. Also spray around rubber boots on shocks, also check load leveler switch on axle to frame for broken or loose lever control.

Load levelers must be leaking, the air pump is running

No, you may want to replace the shocks though. You can leave the leveler disconnected and replace your shocks with regular shocks.

Factory shocks will not fill and level the load (elc)

The lines to the compressor likely have cracks or the pump isn't working. Worst case is the airbags in the shocks are shot.

Mazda mpv 96 problems with the leveler

Expensive to fix. There is a lever behind the spare tire which senses load and accordingly turns on the air compressor to pump up the rear shocks. The problem I've had is the one rear shock air line will develop a leak by rubbing against the shock cover which causes the system to continually bleed down. These shocks are about $400.00each to replace new.

There's a small pump looking device under the hood between the air filter and the washer fluid container and this thing keeps coming on. can you tell me what it is?

It is called your Dynaride...it is a pump that supplies air to the rear shocks to keep the vehicle level. Makes sure that there isn't any leaks at the rear shocks, but for the most part this is normal.

My 98 Cadillac DeVille rear air suspension system works great UNTIL I load weighted luggage in trunk and passengers in back seat. I then drive around for 15 to 45 minutes and thats when the rear end of the...

Common problem on all air suspension vehicles. It could be that there is a hairline crack in one of the shock bladders or that the pump is just too weak to pump up to it's intended pressure, a sensor or solenoid could also be bad.

Whenever I run into this problem I order a spring conversion kit for that vehicle, it is usually not worth spending $3000+ to repair the suspension.

www.Strutmasters.com sells the best kits, $327.00 for the rear. It also comes with a resistor so that your suspension light is not on.

97 catera leveling light flashes all the time

The problem is a leaking air shock(s). My 1997 catera had this problem also. I drove the rear wheels up on a set of ramps and went underneath. There is a sensor located close to the rear axle's that moves up when the car is loaded in the rear. (luggage/person in the back seat). When the car senses the extra weight, a small compressor located up under the hood pumps air to the air shocks until the car is back level again. With the key turned on, and the engine off, You can actually move this sensor with your hand and after about 45 seconds, you will hear the small electric compressor come on and see the rear of the car rise. Even if the shock is leaking, the car will still rise but you can hear/feel the air leak on the rubber boot of the shock. The reason the light never stops flashing is because of the air leak the car never really reaches proper leveling. I know what your thinking, "I didn't have extra weight in the car"..doesn't matter car still levels itself from time to time without extra load in the rear. Possible road conditions etc. and also the fact your basically riding around with only one rear shock working like it should. hope this helps......dave
