How do i replace lifters .

Your lifters ride on your camshaft. You must remove your intake manifold to get access to your lifters. And you can not just replace the lifters! Your engine is a flat tappet cam and lifter setup, you must replace all 16 lifters along with the cam and a proper break in procedure must be followed, and I highly suggest a ZDDP break in additive be used. And there will still be a good chance of the cam wearing out upon break in thanks to our legislators removing the natural zink and phosphorus lubricants from engine oil.

Can lifters be replaced

Oh yea, lifters can be replaced , best if you replace cam an lifters together ! Loud knocking is not usually associated with lifters , they usually make a ticking noise ! Knocking noise is most usually in the bottom of the motor , main or rod bearings . most of the time rod bearings !

Cost of lifter replacement

If the lifters aren't filling with oil the oil pump must not be working properly. You have a bigger problem than your lifters.

Replace lifters for solid lifters zetec ford

You can't do this, the system is set up for hydraulic as far as the fuel injection control modules programming goes, also how would you adjust them, there is no provision for that on the engine you have.

I am experiencing aweful lifter tick. As of now, I have replaced all of the lifters and the oil retention valves. I have tried different types of oil, and nothing is helping.

Did you change the cam and lifters or just the lifters? New lifters and an old cam may not spin properly. They are suppose to wear in together. Replacing one and not the other can make it worse than it was. Always replace them as a set. I'm not one for engine additives. You can try replacing a quart of Lucas Oil in place of one of the quarts of oil in your engine.

Hi, I have a 1988 Chevy S10 with the 2.8L and one of the lifter went bad and possible a pushrod as well. . . how do i fix it ?

Um, what does bad mean, exactly? If the lifter collapsed, the camshaft and lifters need to be replaced. If the lifter will not pump up, you could replace just the one lifter.

I have a lifter that it ticking on a 1989 Mazda 323 Se with a 1.6 liter engine . . . Can it be adusted?

The 1.6 has hydraulic non adjustable lifters and that lifter tick has been a thorn in their side ever since the 1.6's inception.
The way to eliminate the noise is of course replace the lifter/lifters use a cam lube on the lifters bottom and let the new lifters soak in an oil can overnight.
Check for bent push rods when you have it opened up, R&R valve cover,R&R rockers R&R pushrods, Remove and Replace the lifters.

I just replaced all of my hydraulic lifters and no compression!

Yes, you've overtightened the lifters causing the valves to not close completely. If you did not prime the new lifters before you installed them and tightened them with the engine off they are most likely collapsed. back off all of the rockers to just snug and make sure the engine is running when you readjust them. Usually you need to let new lifters sit in a can of oil for a while to fill up. I've used a syringe to fill lifters prior to installation. Did you replace the push-rods also? If so were they the same length as the originals?

Lifter tapping

Yes, you can have just a lifter replaced, but it could be other parts as well...like a valve, rocker, or cam shaft. The valve cover needs to come off for a better inspection.
