My dodge neon stuck in first gear wont go in any other gear its all play

There are bushings in the linkage for the shifter under the car at the shifter and at the trans. Those wear out or the retaining pin clip may have come off and pin got loose.

Shifting problem

Hi, apparently something in your transmission its causing the speed sensor to go bad. Once you replaced it it ran good for a month. I will check the following
1) transmission oil level 2) check overdrive sensor 3) and then i will take it to a transmission shop
hope i helped thanks

2004 Dodge Neon will not reverse.

Sounds like it could be worn gear linkages, which would stop you from being able to push the gearstick in to the reverse gate (usually by pushing the gear stick down or pulling a lever up under it). If you can get under the car take a look, there should be a set of joined poles leading out from where your gear lever is, check that all the connections on these are reasonably tight.

Try giving it a good rap on dash above speedo, see what happens, and get back to me, it may have same problem as my old 95' neon did.
