What are causes for overheating?

If the smoke is white you probably have a hole in a hose for the coolant system. But to answer your question you could have a thermostat stuck, fan belt broke or slipping, hole in a radiator hose, or a heater hose with a hole in it allowing the coolant to spray on the hot engine causing it to smoke and if bad enough causing the engine to shut down.

Black smoking on idle

Your engine would smoke if you are running at too high RPM or have had your RPM at a high level before. The engine is getting overheated. When you say it only smokes until about one mile it sounds like a problem with the engine. starter.

300c white smoke

White smoke is usually caused by coolant leaking into a cylinder and being burnt in the engine. Check the coolant level to be sure you're not too low and have a shop check the cooling system with a "Block Checker" . If you have overheated the engine it probably has a leaking head gasket or a cracked head which is common to overheating Chrysler V-6 and V-8 engines.

Car overheated, big boom under hood, black smoke out of back, speedometer dropping, oilpressure dropping and then car died. 94 eagle talon 5 spd

The engine has seen it's final days of providing secure and unproblematic performance. Where there is smoke, there is fire. overheating is the worst thing that can happen to an internal combustion engine.

Smoke is coming out of the car but its not overheating so what's the problem?

what does this smoke smell like? oil? coolant?, if it smells like coolant then u have a leaking head gasket, not all head gasket leaks cause overheating, so the fact the engine is not overheating doesn't mean you don't have a head gasket leak.

Why is my 1999 mitsubishi galant V4 overheating??

Both white smoke coming from the tailpipe and the engine temperature overheating are signs the cylinder head gasket is blown. You should have a block test performed to verify.

91 gti 8valve overheating problem blows coolent smoke on the..

Hi,
I'm not familiar with your model to know if you have an engine temp guage or a light that would come on if the engine is overheated. You said the motor wasn't overheating under the hood... but you have an overheating problem? Maybe just a tad bit more info...
Are you losing coolant?
The water pump if bad, would probably leak or make terrible racket.
Just to take a shot at it, since you said it blows smoke through the dash... I'm assuming a kindof white smoke with a rather sweet smell? Have you noticed any wetness on the passenger floor at all? If yes to any of this, I would suspect as you mentioned, a leaking heater core. Hope this helps... Good luck!

My car is not overheating, has coolant in it. but fans are not running and seems its smoking from the radiator.

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE GUEST, I FOUND OUT IT WAS THE BYPASS HOSE BEHIND THE ENGINE THAT WAS LICKING THE COOLANT AND SMOKING.
