Question about 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

I had a 1998 jeep grand cherokee larado going the same thing. We changed the spark plugs, did a tune up, replaced the distributor, replaced the battery cables, replaced the crankshaft position sensor,it is doing better but still at random acts as if the fuel or oxygen is off after I take my foot off the gas and wait a few seconds it recovers and is still running (it use to shut off)and at random has trouble at stop lights staying started.

Try the camshaft possition sensor. I know it sounds stupid being that you changed your distributor, but most are rebuilt and they only check the continuity not function of camshaft sensor. Hope this helps!

You really should be using a good manual as a guide fro testing. For wiring diagrams chiltons is better than haynes. Have you checked power flow through the ASD relay??

I have a 93 jeep grand cherokee larado have replaced alternator, starter, battery, coil, still has no spark got power to everything coil has power at it but nothing comes out of it repaced cap and rotor...

The only thing left to replace would be the electronic trigger module which is mounted inside the distributor. If this module is bad it won't switch the coil on and off to produce spark.

Where are my spark plugs on grand cherokee larado fuel injection model located as there is no distributor either?

what engine? on the 4.0l they are on pass side of engine under a long plastic cover with 5 15mm bolts and a plug at back for the coil packs and all come off in one piece so after all the bolts are out gently work the thing up a little at a time working your way down until it world free, easy job to do just be careful of any wires you might pull on and heater hoses need to be held out of the way.
