I have a 99 accord the alternator plug was cut. Looks like they tried to splic the wires to fit a different plug or something. What wires do I run to each metal piece on the alternator?

The WHT/RED wire from the PCM connects to terminal 4 (FR); the WHT/GRN wire from the PCM connects to terminal 2 (C); The BLK (or WHT) wire from the underhood fuse/relay box connects to terminal T102 (B); the WHT/BLU wire from the gauge assembly connects to terminal 3 (L), and the BLK/YEL wire from the driver's under-dash fuse relay box connects to terminal 1 (IG)

Three BLK wires are attached to the positive battery terminal: one goes directly to the "START MOTOR". A second contains the alternator fusible link and connects to the alternator. The third goes to the engine room junction block.

I'm trying to find out how many wires connect on the alternator for a 1994 Geo Metro, I have the wires plugged into the alternator and then have a black and yellow, black and a green and black wire and I'm...

There are usually only 3 wires to an alternator.
The heavy red power output, a light field input, and the chassis ground.

There are about 20 different types of Geo Metro alternators, so I can't be sure, but I doubt your extra wire are for the alternator. Often a wiring harness will have all the possible wires, whether they are needed or not, such as AC, etc. Look at one in a used car lot or salvage yard.

Alternator: Old style alt with two wire plug on top back edge of case with internal regulator.: hot wire from start side of ign switch to a 10 ohm 6watt resistor, to terminal #2 on alt. Jumper wire from B+ large terminal on alt to term #2 on top plug. B+ wire to Battery. (70"s Cadillac wiring)
Distributor : 12volt from "run" side of ignition switch to distributor (using old style HEI dist. with vacuum advance and no computer connections) 12v can also be used to power aftermarket "upgrade" ignition.
Numbers are usually stamped into alt housing but if I remember correctly looking at the back the one on left is #1, right is #2 Battery (B+) is the large wire connection.

Does the alternator on a 1993 Geo Prism need grounded?

IF THE WIRE THAT IS HANGING HAS A TERMINAL ON IT WITH A LOOP, THEN LOOK ON THE ALTERNATOR FOR A STUD THAT MAY ACCOMODATE THE WIRE'S LOOP. IF THE WIRE HAS A PLUG THEN LOOK FOR A CONNECTION ON THE BOTTOM OF THE ALTERNATOR. IF NOTHING IS ON THE END OF THE WIRE, THEN HEAD FOR AN AUTO PARTS STORE WHERE THEY WILL HAVE THE APPROPRIATE PLUG OR WIRE CONNECTOR FOR YOUR VEHICLE. HOPE THIS HELPS. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA. GOOD LUCK. AND THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR AN HONEST RATING.

The plug that connects to the alternator has three

Yes the White wire is the reason. It goes to the Internal Regulator.
As you view the connector that plugs into your alternator, look at where the lock tab is.
Lock tab on TOP. The Black wire goes to the Left side. The White wire goes to the Right side.

The Black wire, ties into the Red wire down in the wire loom. (The Red wire goes to the starter solenoid, and this is connected straight to the battery. This is why the Red, AND the Black wire, are both Hot wires)

The White wire goes through the bulkhead wire loom, and to the bulkhead connector.

(Down under the steering shaft, and on the firewall, you'll see a rectangular Black box shape, with a Bunch of wires, coming into it from the engine compartment. The bulkhead connector is two pieces. Following it through the firewall, the other side of it is the fuse panel)

Where the White wire connects in the fuse panel,
it should go straight to the ACC fuse. (Accessory)
