Try applying some belt dressing on it and if that does not fix it you may need to replace the tensioner because the bearing in it could be becoming bad.hope this helps. also try spraying some w d 40 on the tensioner around were it bolts up and try to get it no the bearing in the tensioner to see if that stops it.could be dry of grease or could be just worn and loose causing the noise. hope this helps thanks

I have a 2004 pt cruiser.. During cold weather the belt starts make loud noise .. Is this normal.. I had the belt replaced 2 months ago

More times than not, when a belt makes noise, the tension is not correct. If you are allowing a generic belt to be used, they may sometimes not be exactly right. Since the belt is only 2 months old either go back to whoever replaced it and have the tension checked or try a get an OEM belt to eliminate the noise.

How can I stopped a moise like a belt noise that increase with acceleration in my car

if its a belt noise make sure the belt tensioner is working properly. I`m guessing this has a serpentine belt. if the belt tensioner is working properly then the belt may just need to be replaced. if its not a belt noise then it could be a bearing noise in one of the pulleys which you will have to find which component and repair or replace.

Renault scenic Auxiliary belt tensioner making high pitched noise

Time to replace the pulley, you can test it by pulling off the belt and spinning the pully with your hand or some compressed air, if it makes noise then its time to replace.

The belts continue to make a loud screeching noises when i drive over 55. Sometimes when the car is idling the belts make noise. Could it be the tension pulley.

it could be the tensioner, water pump, alternator, A/C compressor, power steering, or even a really bad serpentine belt. The only way to be sure is to remove the s-belt and spin-check the pulleys and listen for squeaks or grinding bearings.

Making aloud squeaking noise under the hood

It's most likely a slipping belt. If the belt is heavily glazed, replace it. If it is a serpentine belt, check the spring on the belt tensioner - it should take a significant amount of force to pull it back to release the belt.

Also, check the tensioner pulley, alternator and A/C clutch bearings while you are at it. If there is any roughness or play in the bearings, this could generate noise.

High pitched squealing , replaced serp. belt.. still squeals

It may be your belt tensioner, remove the belt again check the tensioner has proper tention and turn it by hand if it is not smooth or it makes noise replace the tensioner, also check other pulleys to make sure one of them is not making noise

How do I remove and replace the belt tensioner on a 1999 dodge Caravan 3.3L v6

You have to go through the wheel well on the pass side of van. Remove tire. Pull off the inner fender splash panel. Put wrench on right side lug of tensioner lift up(counterclockwise on V6). remove belt. Only one bolt holding the tensioner on the engine. New tensioner is $80. If just making noise , just replace the pulley around $20. Use a Dayco or Gates belt. Goodyear gatorbacks make noise

Car is making loud noise & wont idle

your timing marks must be off for the car not to idle. the timing belt is too tight, that is where the noise is coming from. rule of thumb is you should be able to twist the timing belt to just under 90 degrees on the longest section after the tensioner has tensioned and nut on pully it tightened. tensioners usually tension more than they need to.
