SOURCE: 2001 PONTIAC GRAND AM SE, WON'T CRANK,RAN MY GAS LOW

Sounds like air in fuel line. Purge fuel line. By "crank", do you mean engine spins but won't catch? Try starter fluid in intake.

Also not coming to a complete stop before changing gears will cause that as well.

2001 grand am se jerking when changin gears trac off light on

Final drive speed sensor causing Trac light and rough shifting. Metal dust on the sensor. Have the transmission filter and fluid serviced. This should have been done at 60,000 miles. You may get an ABS light too. Service the sensor. Perform an OBDII scan for stored faults.

I replaced the brake cylinders in my mothers 96 pontiac grand am.we bled the brakes all but one.....and there is not much of a pedal still?do i need to adjust the rear brakes or somthing?i have gone...

first you have to bleed all the brakes, then dissassemble the rear adjusters and clean and lubricate them, then adjust them so the shoes are just touching the drums, many brake systems do not self adjust with the forward and reverse anymore but require the parking brake functional to operate and adjust

I have a 2000 metro the trans shifts hard when you first start up from 2nd to 3rd. But after that it seams not to shift down from 3rd no matter how many times you spot and go again.

Before guessing at transmission problems, check the fluid level (car warmed up, engine running in Park on level ground) and have the PCM scanned for trouble codes FIRST.
Shift suddenly become very hard. When going from park to either reverse or drive it slams into gear. 1-2 and 2-3 shifts are also harsh. All gears seems to work. Problem may be intermittent: Check TPS for smooth electrical response. If the response is jumpy or erratic at all, replace TPS.
Thank you for using fixya and keep us posted.

Misfiring while driving

Check the spark plugs, make sure they all seated and are tight. Also change wires. Probably the coil packs, but check the cheaper stuff first.
