Question about 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier

1 Answer

P0300 Code 2001 Chevy Cavalier 2.4 twin cam

All of a sudden loss of power at stop light check engine and track light on. Car sometimes starts but backfires and will not keep ruuning at low RPM. Engine shakes like it is going to fly out. Replaced all timing chain, gears, chain glides and shoe. Checked compression. Still have same problem. Code Po300 still shows.

I would've started with the coil packs, modules, boots and plugs myself. They give many problems on the quad 4s?.

I have a 97 chevy cavalier with a 2.2 liter engine and an automatic trans. i replaced the head gasket and it ran fine for about a month. Then it suddenly started sputtering and stalling, it also had a loss...

you need to take the car to a muffler shop and have the catylitic converter changed... the converter is stopped up not letting the exaust leave the engine thus stopping it.

1997 chevy cavalier 2.4 twin cam engine dogs out when throttling

Possibly bad tpos sensor

Bad idle air control valve

Bad maf sensor

Check the computer codes first before spending any more money on it

Also do a compression check

And check your valve timing and ignition timing just in case.

with the 2.2 eccotec engine it sounds like the ignition module the trac of light comes on with the check engine light you are probably throwing code p0300 random missfire. the ignition module sits on top of the engine is silver with fins it is held in with three torx screws and runs about $100 dollars. running you car in this condition can severely damage your catalytic converter. hope this helps.
