This code shows issues with your evap venting system. There are a few possible causes, with the most common being the evap vent valve or evap vent solenoid. It may be a better option to have this one diagnosed, as vacuum lines or electrical issues can be the problems as well.

Check and replace vent valve control circuit...the mil code usually means the valve is not opening /closing. .
About 1 hour of your time...get a ratchet and socket set..screwdriver and a cutting plier and cable ties...if youre not sure where the part is located, Google it..cheers

we have a pressure tester in the shop to find this, with Nitrogen gas.

i have a home made one at home, (simple to make and cheap)

Check for a crack hose between engine and firewall

it is a hose with 2 different end size on Accent that crack it happen twice, dont know on Sonata?

for p0440, you can try this:

Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the code, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.

Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses

Inspect for damaged or disconnected hoses around the Evap purge solenoid

Check and/or replace the sensor

Check and/or replace the purge valve

Have a professional use a smoke machine to detect leaks

It will be either a gas cap seal, blocked gas vent or EVAP / carbon canistor purge valve fault.
