Loose connection somewhere, you can check the fuse, doubt thats it tho.

Check for a loose ground wire from the battery to the body and any ground wires from the engine to the battery. Also get the battery voltage checked when you have this condition; maybe the alternator isn't charging enough at idle; you didn't state if the truck is in gear or in park when this happens.

You have a code set to the ECM which would be in your emissions sensors(egr, tps, etc). To test the check engine light, take a small jumper wire and stick one end in the ground(A) and the other end in the test teminal(B) which is located under driver side dash which is called the ALDL.It willflash on your dash after you turn the key on 12.which means its working properly. The check gauges light might be on cuz of maybe low oil pressure. You need to check your oil ,battery, alternator etc

Check for a loose ground wire from the battery to the body and any ground wires from the engine....... If that was the case, that ground wire will not even start the engine, there's nothing serious here.

The sending unit is behind the distributor on top of the block. And if the service engine light comes on, most auto parts stores like Pep Boys will check your car for free, and if it only comes on while running but not while driving that will steer you in the right direction. But I would try this first, reset the computer. To reset the computer in your vehicle all you need to do is disconnect your battery for 5 minutes, then reconnect your battery and your computer will start fresh, if a there is a problem a sensor sends a signal back to the computer.

I really dont think it has anything to do with the computer, I would look for a loose wire 1st..Good Luck

I personally dont like the oil pressure sending unit (we call them dummy switches)I prefer the oil pressure line to the gauges. Not the stock gauges, aftermarket gauges like Sewart Warner.

Look or feel behind it, under dash, feel to see if its plugged in, if so, change the oil pressure sending unit, or fuse(but i doubt it).

Chevy 2005 silverado low oil pressure replaced oil sending unit and the cluster no noise from engine

Put a gage in the sending unit hole and see if the oil pump is weak, that is the best way to tell if the engine pump is ok.

Why is Oil light comes on at all times

Check real oil pressure with gage. If it is really low , it indicates an engine problem. DO NOT drive with low oil pressure. It will destroy an engine. If pressure is ok, change oil pressure sending unit.

If my 2004 chevy silverado oil pressure gage stays at 80 psi could this hurt the engine

I would want to know what the actual oil pressure is. The sending unit or the gauge on the dash could have failed.
There is a pressure relief valve to prevent oil pressure from going too high, but staying at 80psi would not be good for a long time.

What is the check gauges light

CHECK GAGES light (1) indicates a potential engine failure(low oil pressure, low coolant, coolant overheating) has occurred.
· Check gages and shut down engine. Gages should read as follows: Oil pressure 5 to 10 psi (34 to 69 kPa) at idle; Water Temp gage below 230 degrees (110 C).
· Check engine oil level (Para 2-11) if OIL PRESS gage indicates low reading. Check coolant level (Para 2-11) if Water Temp gage indicates high reading. Notify Unit Maintenance if levels are low.

If CHECK ENGINE light (2) is on, check engine oil pressure gage (3) and water temperature gage (4). If both indicate normal, proceed with mission and then notify Unit Maintenance. If either one does not indicate normal, stop engine immediately and notify Unit Maintenance

1995 jetta oil light buzzer problem

You need to install an oil pressure gage. If the pressure is good then check the wiring to the sending unit. It could be a bad sending unit but don't replace it until you test the oil pressure. If you don't want to add the gage inside the car you could install it under the hood or use a manifold gage, it's mechanical so oil flows right to the gage instead of a sending unit, you don't leave it on the engine. Mechanics use them to test engines and transmissions. You can buy either at a auto parts store. If you have low oil pressure then either the pump is bad, the oil pump pick up screen is clogged, or the engine is worn out (bearings, valve guides, piston rings).

what color is the check engine light? if red replace the oil pressure sending unit on the engine, if this doesn't cure the issue have the oil pressure checked with a mechanical test guage, if it is low and you have no engine noise replace the oil pump..

''check engine oil level light ''wont go off

Ok, start with the obvious, check the oil, and while the truck is running listen under the hood for ticking or clattering noises. If the oil is full, and the engine is running nice and quiet and smooth, it's most likely your oil pressure sending unit, usualy located somewhere near the oil filter housing. It will have 1 wire coming from it, check to make sure it's got a tight connection. If that still doesn't work, try replacing the oil pressure sensor. You will need a drain pan when you do it, because you will loose a little oil when you remove the sensor.
Good Luck!
