Question about 2009 Honda Accord

1 Answer

Whistling noise coming from the driver's side. It seems to be coming from right behind my ear. It starts as soon as I hit 60mph and above. Can't pinpoint the exact location. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If its a wind noise, you can tape over window seals, door cracks one at a time to help you pinpoint your problem area. There is no easy way to find those, just have to use the process of elimination.

SOURCE: 2004 honda odyssey making whistle noise

I know this original question was written quite a few months back but I was wondering if you ever found out what the high pitch sound was. I just purchased a used 2005 Honda Odyssey and it is doing the exact same thing. Any advice?

Take out the cabin air filter that is in the plenum behind the glove box. This will lessen the noise but you should get the unit serviced soon.

What is a whistling noise behind the dashboard?

Many controls are activated by a vacuum line from the engine. My wild guess there is a slit or bad connection somewhere on the way to the control system. Good ears or "hearing horn" should help you find the sound source.

Check the protective backing plate for the brakes to see if its bent. Look at the opposite side to get a good idea what it looks like to bend back into shape if so. If bent they will create a noise or whistle effect

When driving with driver side window down, sometimes hear a irritating whistling sound from drivers side, what could this be

To eliminate possibilities, while the noise is occurring put your hand around the edge of the window top bottom and side until it stops. It's due to the flow of the air hit a part of your vehicle cause a whistle.

Whistling can not find any vacuum leaks if you accelerate the whistling goes away

Sounds silly, but you can easily trace the source of the noise by taking a short piece of garden or heater hose, putting one end to your ear and using the opposite end as a probe. It works like a directional microphone and will lead you right to the noise source!! At higher rpm's the noise likely does not go away, but becomes hypersonic and beyond your hearing range.

WHISTLING BELOW TURBO

Its surely not turbo, its is somewhere a hole or leak in turbo air filter housing or air inlet pipe that is making noises when turbo sucks air. check the air pipes wheather they are fitted correctly. Take a keen look at air hose and close any hole with silver tape check the hose is fitted correctly in Turbo air filter housing (if not then it makes whistling noise when air is being sucked by turbo) . Clean all air filters and then give it a go.
