I got a1989 jeep wrangler its go a new coil and a new pick up in the distrubitor will still not get fire to plugs

Has the coil wire been replaced? Is the rotor turning in the distributor when the engine is cranked? I'm assuming you have a 2.5 L engine.

How do you reset service engine soon light

Hello, this light is for a engine emieeion related or running problem. this light just cant be turned off. the fault has to be repaired first. what you will need to do is have the system scanned for trouble codes. most parts stores will do this for free. once a trouble code has been pulled from the system, then the a repaired can be made and then light can be truned off

I replaced my oxygen sensor after catalytic converter because i have my check engine light on. after replacing sensor i didnt reset the ecu and truned the car on, the check engine light was still on. so i...

Okay, so now you know not to pull the PCM fuse. It won't reset the codes, the parts stores read and reset codes with codereaders for free. ANYTIME you CEL comes on, take it there and write down the codes.

In most cars newer than about 2000, this triggers the security shutdown. What about a dead battery? Why doesn't that trigger the lockdown? Because the computer monitors battery strength 24/7 and it knows the difference between sudden loss of power and slow ***** of the battery.

So IF that's what happened—and you should ALWAYS put make, model, engine, and year in any question; there is no one-size-fits-all about this kind of stuff—if that's what happened, someone who can access the deep levels of the PCM will have to unlock it. That means dealer or certified master mechanic shop will full repair equipment including computers.

I am not getting any spark to the spark plugs to get engine to turn over, start, or run. I already replaced the plugs and everything to do with them, the fuel filter, the air filter, and the relay switch....

ignition moduel inside the distrubitor. around a $40 part. Two screws on distrubitor, two more on the moduel, and one wire connector and you're done.

Engine won't turn over. battery seems to work fine

If you keep trying does it eventually catch?

The contacts inside the starter wear down with age/usage and require replacement from time to time. The contacts are available from your local dealer for about $8-$16 depending on your area. There are two that you need, and three variations available so you will need to have them out to match them up.

After removing the battery negative terminal and removing the starter from the vehicle:
Remove the three 8mm screws on the back of the trapezoidal cover on the solenoid.
Remove the cover.
Pull out the plunger and its' spring.
Inside you will see two copper contactson opposite sides, one will have a wire attached to a ring on it.
Remove both contacts by unbolting the 12 and 14mm nuts on the outside of the case and pushing the bolts through.
Make note of the order of the contact, paper, plastic spacer, oring.
Install in reverse order and your starter will be good for likely another 100k :)

Need diagram for the distrubitor cap cannot get the truck to start, change the distrubitor cap and got the wires mixed up.

If it's a v8, order is 18436572 to find #1, turn the crank to tdc on timing scale, and see where the rotor is pointing it will either point to #1 or 180degrees away from it (towards the rear of the engine.)
