Question about 2001 Ford Crown Victoria
My car leaks oil, but sounds and drives really good, except for what sounds like machine gun when I accelerate, what can this be and please don't say rod knock
Can be several things. I want to say spark knock. Don't remember if your engine came with a Knock sensor.
Also stretched timing chain or weak timing chain tensioner. Another term to look at is "valve rattle". This would give you closer to a machine gun sound than other things.

SOURCE: engine knock 1999 ford crown vic
Are u using the recommended fuel ? if so try running a couple of cans of fuel injection upper cylinder cleaner through the system with the next few tanks of gas, try LUCAS brand, it is among the best, the next step is to have the engine de-carboned by the dealer, this works very well, you can also remove an octane selection jumper, it retards the timing 2 degrees, that will most times stop the ping.

If it's awd check front driveshaft, I have a 01 awd an had the same thing when I give it gas knocking get loud, I removed the front drive shaft an the sound is gone an my mpg has went from 10 mph to 17 mph, their Is a bearing on the trains, that goes bad an hooks up to the drive shaft you could change that . I have found out after I removed my drive shaft , buy I am having fun with my two wheel 5.4 lol

SOURCE: I have 1999 ford crown victoria has a sound as a lifter knock or harmonic off or main or something like a knock is there anything that can make my diagnois specific i do have a leak from my intake man
It could be a connecting rod knock, the best way would be to disable each spark plug by pulling the plug wire and if the knocking becomes lighter then thats the indication that particular knock is from that connecting rod or cylinder.
