Question about 1996 Ford Crown Victoria

1996 crown vic- drivers side wiper arm loose, blade will not lay flat when cleaning

The drivers side wiper arm will not stay flat on the windshield. I can move the base of the arm up and down at the bottom where it attaches to the motor, which seems to be loose. This seems to be causing the wiper blade to not stay flat on the windshield to clean correctly.? How can I tighten it so the wiper arm lays flat and will clean the windshield? The passenger side does not have this play in it...thanks! Tony

Sometimes you need to bend the arm to put more pressure on the glass.

SOURCE: Windshield wiper arm on passenger side won't move.

It will not be the motor, it will be the linkage or the wiper is slipping on the shaft, the lingkage is accsessible under the cowl, Hope this solves your problem and Merry Christmas

SOURCE: Windshield wipers will not move. Arms from motor

Hello

The windshield wiper linkage comes as an assembly. The assembly comes with the two rotating splines that the wiper arms attach to. you must remove wiper arms. Remove cowl trim and remove bolts that hold the pivot points to the body. The new linkage that snaps to the wiper motor should come with a new retaining clip. You have to fish the linkage assembly through the access holes in the body by un bolting the wiper motor.

SOURCE: my driver side windshield wiper stopped working.

The bar that connects to the arm that connects to the motor came off. Remove wiper motor to get to that connection, Autozone will have that part in there (help) line.

SOURCE: only one windshield wiper works

The splined fitting is pressed into the linkage. The fit became loose so that side will not operate correctly no longer. You will need to remove replace the complete linkage

How to Take off wiper arms on 1994 ford f150

Where the wiper arms attach at the base of the windshield, look on the side of the wiper arm for a small lock that can be pulled out with a small screwdriver, lift the wiper arm and slide the lock out as you release the wiper arm which should now stay in the raised position, slide the wioer arm off the shaft where the arm is attached.

Windshield wipers travel past the driver side window:

There is a tool for that, to take the spring tension off the arm

You can still wrestle it off, by lifting the arm off windshield
& on the arms right side & under it ,is a small tab you slide
out.

Then the arm comes off & you can reinstall in a different place

The driver's side windshield paper does not function, the passenger's side works?

Hello: lift/remove cover from the lower end of the w/w arm (toward bottom of windshield) there should be a 13mm nut that attaches the arm to the transmission shaft. Use a 13mm box end and see if the nut is tight. If not tight position the arm in the proper position and tighten nut, re-install nut cover.

Drivers side windshield wiper does not move.

remove the cover at base of the wiper arm, where it connects to the vehicle. usually all thats wrong, is the nut which attaches the arm to the stem on the wiper transmission, has come loose. this usually happens when the wipers are turned on while the blades are frozen to the windshield. check to see if the stem turns and the wiper arm does't move. turn the wipers off, and position your wiper arm in its' parked position. then tighten this nut. if this isn't the problem , then it.s furthur inside, either the wiper transmission, or the wiper motor, and you will probably need to have it looked at by a pro. good luck!

!998 taurus windshield wiper on the drivers side moves but is out of cink with the passenger side and can hold it still when passenger side is running. something with mechanism.

Your wiper transmission is bad or disconnected. The part with the arms that are moving under the windshield cowling is called a wiper transmission. The main connection to these arms is a pin on the wiper motor which has a clip. The cowling is the area directly under the windshield. You may be able to unscrew the cowling and remove it to access the shaft arms on the wiper transmission.

You may need to remove the wiper motor to get at the clip on the motor. Then each arm is mounted to the base of the cowling. These are the stubs which the wiper arms attach to. Usually the shaft arms are a permanent part of the piece which fits over the motor. But is worth a look at what broke to see how it used to be attached.

If the transmission arms were in a pressed-on fitting, you will either have to replace it or improvise a new connection. The connection will have to be secure, yet not drag on the wiper, and not make noise. That kinda makes a new part or Salvage yard part your options.

By going to a Salvage yard first, you will learn how the part comes off. Gather extra screws for the ones you may drop reinstalling the part. And if you break something on the Salvage car, you will know better when you work on yours.

I hope you found this solution helpful.

Most auto parts stores will gladly change out the blades for you. As far as your question.......No, you only have to replace the blades and not the completer wiper arm.
Hope this helps

2002 ford crown vic. driver side wiper not working? passenger side works

the linkage between the wiper motor and the wiper arms needs to be replaced. the stud on the one side is stripped and that is why it doesn't work as it should. this happens usually when the wipers are left on in the winter with the blades freezing to the windsheild. turn on the car with frozen blades tends to strip out the teeth holding the wiper arms onto the linkage

Drivers side windshield wiper went past the window. Now it doesn't move at all. the wiper also can be moved by hand with the motor off.

The base nut needs to be tightned, with the key on and wipers off, now turn key off and position wiper in the park position (down) then tight the nut, remove the cover at the bottom of the arm to see nut,75c3630.gif
