If the car shuts off while driving down road, and will not start for about 10 minutes, this usually is a bad crank sensor. if crank or cam sensor fails, it will set a fault code. good-day!

My crankshaft sensor went bad and my O8 infiniti G35X what does that mean when it goes bad is that a big problem I will have to get fixed soon?

when a crank sensor goes bad it can make the motor not run right or shut down this tells the ecm the postion of the crank and works in junction with the cam postion sensor as well as if the crank sensor has a crack in it it could over heat the sensor and shut down the motor. they are usually in expesive to purchase a crank sensor and fairly simple to change

Just a statement there,no real question

Can't guess for you, without a vehicle to test

Doesn't act like anything, until you have test results
to prove your thoughts

Battery
No Spark
No Fuel
OBD Codes

Do anything at all ?

How will the car perform if the crankshaft sensor is bad?

it will not crank usually with a bad crank sensor usually this is a misunderstood code for the crank position sensor being out though as the code for that is the same as the code for the cam position sensor, more times than not the cam position sensor is the issue nt the crank. i have recently been throught his one myself and spent $40.00 i didn't have to by not knowing this and just replacing the cam position sensor and calling it a day.
IF the cam position sensor is gone out the car will still start but it will only catch and turn over if the starter is able to crank it at above 1100 RPM and when it does start it will be rough idle and the car will die as soon as you take your foot off of the gas pedal.

What is the symptom of a bad crank shaft sensor

In most case's the vehicle will stall but won't continue to run or just a flat no start the crank sensor tell the computer the firing order and when to firer where the cam or distributor sensor tell the computer where number one cylinder is note that the crank sensor my hold both sensor in one. If you had a distributor less car it can affect both fuel and ignition system where as if you have a distributor it would more likely affect the fuel system only. I have seen bad sensor that just made for a poor run and low power do to a bad out put signal to the computer. Check it with a scope for a clean signal back to the computer.

My car cranks but wont start it has a low compression and we were told that the engine is gone but the diagnostic shows the problem as the crank sensor, we have gone to different mechanics but no one can...

usually if the ecu says crank code then its a faulty sensor, can be both crank and cam. as if the crank sensor goes it will not start. cam it will start but not run correctly. low compression would mean eather water in oil, water in cylinders, or blow back on compression. but with all or any of these the engine would still start but run badly.

When the car is idling sounds fine, when you step on the gas it seems to misfire then pops.the car has been setting for a long period ,not starting as often as it should be.runs rough.do you think it's one...

if vehicle has been standing for a long while it could be the fuel has gone stale but i wouldnt like to say as it could be a multitude of reasons ranging from stale fuel to a mass air flow sensor ,so i would advise that ask a local mechanic to have a look for you
