On the 'C' side of the door you should find a switch that sticks out by about a 1/4" that you can slide up and down to engage or disengage the child lock mechanism. There is no electo-mechanical switch. It is only with the mechanical operation that this works. Ask a cop next time you end up in the back of a cruiser! LoL!
