Question about 1999 Isuzu Rodeo
20 amp ignition fuse under dash blows everytime turn on the key. replaced the ignition already no help all relay test ok not sure how to find my short
Wire up headlight globe into the fuse position that blows, headlight globe will glow very bright when short is there, careful you dont have globe on things that can melt or burn eg. plastic or carpet etc..glass and area around it gets hot
now everything will work but the circuit that has the short to ground and you wont melt wiring or cause dammage to other components. you now need to disconnect connectors and components one at a time to work out which section of wiring or component has shorted. to work this out a wiring diagram would come in handy. when the globe goes out or is very dim as in filerment element in globe just glows red like heater element short is gone.

Hello first thing i would start with is check your idle screw it may be set to low if the choke linkage is sticking .first take your breather off so you can see the choke linkage look to see where the plate is positioned is it fully closed have somone try starting with out touching the gas pedal if it doesnt start slightly open the choke plate if it starts you need a choke adjustment check to see if its manuel linkage, vacuum operated,or electrical. if vacuum check lines for dry cracks or splits preventing choke operation if electrical you need to test the power wire at the choke also test for good ground if mechanical check adjustment screw for curb idle to see if its set to low.goodluck please rate

Yes...have it checked out. With the belt removed, if it is rough when turned by hand you have found the problem.

either that or the ignition switch itself is binding up

Dirty terminals, happens all the time. Did you have the battery tested? Or just know it's OK? Did you check the water? How about the electrolytes? Get the terminals cleaned off with a wire brush, and scrape the insides, make sure they are tight. I have replaced more batteries this week, must be the weather. One was stone dead, 5 volts and still started the car?? Couldn't believe it, good car. The other 2 were dead with 12+ volts but wouldn't start anything, both got new terminals, and both got cleaned up. NO problems. Check it out. Lastly, the solenoid in the starter could be bad if everything else checks out, whack it with a hammer while turning the key, if it jumps, you found it.
