If the cam is bad your going to get lifter noise cause the lobes will wear down.

there are valve seals and there is timing /cam seals, what are the symptoms ?

Oil leak front engine timing chan


1995 Tracker would have a timing BELT. Normal oil leak points (in order) on a Suzuki G16 engine are the distributor base (rear of motor), valve cover (top of motor), front main seal (behind lower timing belt cog) cam seal (behind the upper timing belt cog) and rear main seal. (behind the flywheel). I'd suspect the front main seal or cam seal. I use foot power to help find oil leaks.

1966 GTO rebuilt 5k ago...took car in had a re-seal done which required removing engine. Picked car up drove <25 miles and cam went bad. Garage says"coincidence, I dont but that now wanting...


$4000 for a cam??? Get real. They aren't that hard to replace and don't cost that much. Advise: 1. Find a New shop to do the work. 2. Get the Haynes Manual on your vehicle and do it your self. This shop you took it to screwed up and they are giving you a price to blow you out the door because they know they screwed up. If they did the job correctly they checked the tolerances and scoped and turned the cam which would have prevented this from happening. But that is way too high for a cam. If you talking Crank then they may have a halfway correct price but since that can actually be replaced in that vehicle without pulling the motor I would find a new shop. New crank should run around $200-$300 depending on the type your installing. Another $200 to $300 for labor and your out the door. Since they just replaced all the seals and should have turned the crank and replaced the Connecting and Main bearings those should not be an issue. I hate to see people taken advantage of, you can replace this cam or crank yourself relatively cheap compared to what they are wanting. That shop is trying to take you to the cleaners because if there was any problem identified while they were doing the seals they should have told you. I would do a real hard check of that motor and double check their work because it sounds like you paid them to re-seal a motor and what they did was take it out, steam clean it and put it back in replacing only the valve cover gaskets if they had to, very old shady shop trick like putting saw dust in the transmission.

Cam seal leak


Replacing the cam seal is really more time consuming than difficult. The EJ-25 motor requires the removal of front covers, timing belt, and the timing gear for the cam that needs replaced. The seal can be replaced without removing the valve cover or cam. The installation is very important on setting the cam timing. Good luck and have a great day.

Oil leak


that motor known as a leak motor f22,check this front cam seal,cranks seal,balancer seal,rear main seal and distributor seal those are the main common problem

Our timing belt broke on our 95 honda accord and we got put another motor in. It runs but doesnt have power and oil is leaking bad when the car warms up.


first of all do you know if your engine is a non-interference i would think a 95 would be non-interference ( another words the valves do not collide with the piston in the event of belt failure ) for the power loss issue i would suspect your cam to crank timing ( align timing marks )
exactly. as far as your oil leaks, as mentioned by another comment,
your seals, ie. rear main, front crank, and your cam seal would of been simple to do prior to stabbing the engine, except for the cam seal you now have quite a job, if you did the install. if you paid a shop
take it back. this is not even close to good business

Did you try rotating the CAS input shaft? Remember that the cams spin at half the speed of the crank, so a full spin of the CAS is actually 720 degrees. It could be that the CAS is 360 degrees out of phase and causing the car not to run properly. Unbolt it and remove it carefully. Rotate the input shaft (the part that mates with the cam) 360 degrees and put it back on, and see if that helps.

Also, just making sure, when you double-checked the cam timing marks, you did verify that in addition to the four cam sprockets being aligned properly, the crank timing mark is also aligned correctly, right?
