It sounds like the contacts inside the starter solenoid are burnt together . Check this by removing the battery lead and using a multimeter check for continuity across the major poles of the starter . If you have it then replace the solenoid.

I just put a brand new solenoid on it,I don't see how the contacts could be fried, anyway I have switched solenoids and it did the same thing. Any other ideas

for a stsrter to keep turning there has to be curent through the solenoid coil so that the internal contacts are pulled together. That will happen when the starter button is pressed allowing power down to the solenoid . If the small wire on the solenoid is connected to the battery wire on the solenoid ( or is touching the battery wire) then there is power energising the solenoid coil all the time

How to disable Prius back up beep

This is a pretty easy fix.

1. Keep you foot on the break and turn the car on.
2. Press the odometer/trip button until your dash displays the odometer mileage.
3. Turn the car off and while keeping your foot on the break, restart the car by pressing the on button.
4. Immediately press and hold down the Odometer/trip button for at least 10 seconds.
5. While still holding down the Odometer/trip button put the car in reverse. You will hear the reverse beeping. Then push the park button.
6. You can now release the Odometer/trip button and if you keep pushing the button you can toggle the beep to come on or turn off by looking on your dash. It should say "b-on" or "b-off".
7. Toggle it to the "b-off" setting and put your car in reverse and that annoying beep should be turned off.

The rear lift gate on my 2006 Lincoln Navigator will not open automatically or manually and there appears to be no way to access anything inside the door from inside or out.

POWER LIFT-GATE OPERATION - To open the optional power liftgate, push the button on the instrument panel , press on your five-button key fob (if equipped), or press and release the control located in the left rear quarter panel (Figure B). To unlatch the liftgate glass, push the button ) under the center of the license plate lamp shield, or press on your five-button key fob. Do not open the liftgate or the liftgate glass in a garage or other enclosed area with a low ceiling. Keep clear of the liftgate when operating the rear switch. To open the liftgate manually, pull the handle located on the liftgate to release the liftgate from the vehicle. The power system will take over when you release the handle. To close, make certain the rear window is closed, and then pull down the liftgate a few inches to activate power closing. Closing the gate rapidly or more than a few inches may activate the obstacle detection feature and stop the power system.------------ Also click this link for more help:--- http://technoanswers.blogspot.com/2011/05/power-liftgate-on-will-not-open-on.html ------------ This should help.Keep updated.Thanks.Helpmech.

2008 Toyota 4Runner maintenance light is on eventhough I did changed the oil. How do I reset it?? I tried one of the suggestions which included turning the key to on and resetting the trip miles but...

You were close with re-setting the trip miles. Here are the steps:

(1) Turn key on, but do not start car. Keep pushing the trip miles button until you get to the odometer miles (the total mileage of the car), not the trip miles.

(2) Trun key off.

(3) Push and HOLD the reset button with one hand, then turn the key on (do not start the car) with the other.

(4) While you continue to HOLD in the reset button, you will notice the various warning lights blink and turn off. After about 10 seconds, release the reset button.

(5) Turn key off, then turn key back on and start car. The maintenance light will be off.
