My blower motor will only blow on level 4 and 5. 1,2 and three
Keep going out.it has been in the shop twice only to work a week and then 1,2 and 3 go out again. they say i need a new blower motor now but the fan works great on 4 and 5. do i need a new motor fan???it will cost over $300.00 thank you
Re: my blower motor will only blow on level 4 and 5. 1,2...
Inside the blower housing under the dash by the floor is a resistor that fits inside the housing. It gets damp and burns open. Cheap to buy part, takes a contortionist to replace. I managed, and I'm old. It has two wires going to it.

THE HEAT PROBLEM IS MOST LIKELY TO BE LOW COOLANT WITH THE MOTOR DEAD COLD CHECK COOLANT LEVEL LOOK AROUND INTAKE MANIFOLD SEE IF ANY LEAKS ARE PRESENT FOR THE BLOWER SPEEDS THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTER IS PROBLEY THE PROBLEM IT WILL BE LOCATED BY THE BLOWER MOTOR
Likely the blower motor resistor. located right next to the blower motor, this device is resposible for reducing the voltage suplied to the motor. when it fails you may loose some or all speeds of the motor
You have got a defective blower motor resistor. Your blower resistor is located just to the left of your blower motor (which is located under the passenger side of your dash. You may find you have a carpeted covered piece of cardboard that is located on the underside of the dash (below the glove box ) if so you'll have to to remove it by removing the retaining clips, Now look up behind the glove box and you"ll see the blower motor and just to the left of it there is rectangular unit with a connector with six wires within the connector , the colors of the wires will be as follows (black and orange)(black and yellow)(two wire's that are black and white)(black and blue)and (black). the blower motor resistor is totally bypassed when you turn your fan speed to high ! The blower speed is controlled by the ground side of the blower. When you request any of the other three speeds the ground circuit is routed through the blower resistor which is made up of three resistors.( resistors reduce the current flow) and each resistor reduces a predetermined about of current. So when you request medium high blower speed the ground circuit runs through one resistor, if you request medium low the ground circuit runs through two resistors , and through three resistors to obtain low blower speed, Normally what happens is the blower resistor blows out the circuit between the fan switch and the blower motor resistor which results in the lost of all lower speeds,no different then the wire to the blower motor just being disconnected.Replace the blower motor resistor and you will in great shape .Thanks for using fixya
This is definitely 100% the Blower Motor Resistor.
Replace this and all speeds will work fine.
This Resistor is defined with 3 to 4 wires going into it, and is located adjacent to the Blower Motor.
It is easily access, removed and replaced.
I will post an additional comment on Part Number, Price and where available.

YOUR BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR IS DEFECTIVE. IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR THE FAN TO WORK ON ALL SPEED SETTINGS. ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IN THE DUCT-WORK NEAR THE BLOWER MOTOR YOU SHOULD SEE IT FASTENED BY TWO SCREWS AND IT WILL HAVE A THREE WIRE PLUG GOING TO IT AS WELL. HOPE THIS HELPS. KEEP ME POSTED.
