SOURCE: car shorted out no power will not start

Hello! You'll need a multimeter set on the 50 volts dc scale. Pull the 10A fuse for ECM/IGN...Check for battery on the feed side of the fuse with the key on. If you read 12 vdc then battery is present at the fuse block. If battery is present at the block...carefully pull one fuse at a time and, rather than seeing if it's blown, check fuses with a meter. Set the meter on the X10 ohm scale. With battery at the block; Fuses are blown at the inside block.

If there is no battery coming to the fuse block inside the car; Go under the hood and check the fuses in the main fuse block. Check in the same fashion that was explained earlier.

I believe that the high amperage fuses, as in 60 or 80 amps that feed the ignition and supply battery to the inside fuse block are blown.

Also check for battery at the starter motor. This is a direct supply from +post on the battery itself. If no battery is present there may
be a fusible link installed. Disconnect the positive cable from the battery; Again use the ohm meter set on X10 scale and check to see if this cable is open. A fusible link may be installed between main battery and the red wire that runs through the firewall into the inside fuse block.

If you need further assistance write a comment...I am at your disposal like a garbage truck.

92 camaro fuse keeps blowing for the rag top

There is excessive draw on that circuit possibly a dead short to ground. If the fuse blows as soon as you replace it the problem is before the top switch. If it blows when the switch is activated the problem is after the switch

How can I jump the starter on my 91 camaro?

hot wire starter you can short out ignition switch and wiring. to jump starter ignition switch start postion.you have to run 10 gauge jumper wire from the starter solenoid positive battery terminal to starter switch or S terminal on starter solenoid this procedure take two people but better remove starter replace starter solenoid. trying jumping off starter on camaro would be dangerous you have jack up car to get to starter and wiring person laying under car hot wiring starter while other person hold ignition start position put person under car in deadly position just remove starter have auto parts check it out first replace starter or solenoid if either bad. easier hot wire starter if starter under hood like my 1977 vega monza had starter at top could take long screw driver jump starter off.on the four cylinders engines back in the 70s. camaro starter under car dangerous trying to hot wire not a good idea.

91 camaro headlights..............changed HL switch no luck, no dome lights are there relays or fusible links and if so where? It started last week no headlights seems if I wiggled dash wires underneath it...

It seems certaiin that there is a fault in the harness , the connectors or the switches or fuse box. since the circuit activated when the wires were shaken then it is a case of open circuit. You will need to check the +12 AT THE MAIN FUSE - HEADLIGHT FUSE.If there is no voltage then the harness is open . If present the line goes to the cluster switch and the switching from the unit must be confirmed. This powers a relay which is in the engine room - relay box - and it is possible that the relay had failed if there is power form the cluster switch.
You will need to trace the path using a multmeter or 12 volt park lamp with one side grounded so as to find the missing link.

When i hit a bump, i loose radio, windows and convertible top power

Avoid Bumps o)
This could be a loose fuse box conection at the fire wall
There is a 6 mm wire that runs from the starter into your fuse box Chevy has had a problem with the bolt that holds the engine harrness and the fuse box comming loose over time
try tighting the 10mm bolt at the engine side of the firewall below the master cylinder

I replaced the Ignition Switch now I dont get any power Thru out the Car, I had power before Switch was replaced now I dont?? any Suggestions This is a 91' RS Camaro 5.0L.

You have missed hooking up a wire or hooked up a wire incorrectly.Do your interior lights work or does any thing at all work or is it that it just won't turn over. If it will not turn over it is probably because the factory anti-theft does not recognize the new key coding therefore will not allow the vehicle to start. It will have to be programmed for this vehicles computer. If their is no power at all to anything then you have missed hooking up a wire or hooked it up incorrectly or mistakenly unplugged another wire, Double check that all the wires are correctly plugged in and in the right place, Also check all you fuses sometimes when doing this kind of thing and the battery was not disconnected a wire could have shorted out and blown a fuse check all the fuses in the engine compartment and under the dash.

1999 Camaro Convertible

If you can hear the motor it us not likely to be a fuse. The problem will either be the power to the pump or the hydraulic fluid in the system. BEFORE YOU START! Telephone a camaro dealer to find out which hydraulic fluid to use! The wrong fluid will rot the pipes.
Try this.
Remove the rubber plug on the motor. Check the fluid level. It should be near the top. If it isn't.
Top up the fluid level.
PUT THE PLUG BACK IN!
Trust me it's a seriously messy mistake!!!
Open and close the top 4 or 5 times.
With the top UP, Re-check the fluid level. Top up again if needed.
PUT THE PLUG BACK IN!
If the level was originally correct the issue will possibly be the electrics. Easiest solution for that is just take it to a good auto electrician.
