Question about 1996 Geo Tracker 2 Door
Problem seem related with a short, I have a relay that is buzzing when I turn the key to the On position? I would like to determine that relay conections?
You need to ID the relay.
where is it. ?in cab or in the engine bay.???????
and for sure can be found and fixed
does car run? (a shoe drop moment)
this page helps ID parts
your engine is a G16B (16valve) for sure, i owned 2. (restored them)(
the 96 geo has a bank of fuses behind the glove box, mounted to the
heater .AC box. there. does that buzz?
if not sure use a rubber hose to your ear to listen to any relay or VSV for free.
find it, first. report it or
one cause of relay buzz is a bad fuel pump, it draws over 4amps
and overloads the ECU power feed. causing ECU to go, quite nuts.

I believe the pin should be positioned at the top, but I'm not 100% on that. I'm going to say that the position you had when the fuel backed up into the carb is 180 degrees out on the cam, and that the valves were opening during the compression stroke, therefore blowing the fuel back instead of pulling it in. If you know where the gear was during this, then take it off, go a complete 180 degrees with the cam, and put it back on. This should get you close enough to for the engine to start, then you'll need to dial it in.

The fuel pump relays are mounted on an "L" bracket underneath the ECM. Both have something to do with the Fuel pump. Be careful not to get it confused with the horn relay it is in the same vicinity (under the dash on the drivers side).
