What causes codes p1594,230,1693 on my 99 dodge Cummins 5.9?


When diagnosing a multi code vehicle, you have to start with the lowest code number first. P0230 is a code for the lift pump circuit. This does not necessarily men the lift pump is bad. It means the circuitry has a problem. It's an electrical issue. Does the vehicle start okay and run?

The second code, P1594, is a code for the alternator is charging at too high of a voltage. You can easily check that by using a meter to check the battery voltage when the vehicle is running. Any over 14 3/4 volts is considered high.

The last code, P1693, is a 'chump code'.c it simply means that there is a code stored in one of the computers in the vehicle. The ECM is probably reading the PCU that has the P1693 because of the codes in the ECM. Anyway, if you get through the first 2, P1693 will stay off when the codes are cleared.

Radio code


the radio code can get only from the manufacturer,means by applying to an authorized dealer and by giving the details of your vehicle they will give you the radio code. Many times the main dealers when are handing over the new vehicle to its owner usually are writing the security code of the radio and ignition key on the vehicle documents with the chassis number model etc. If you are the owner from new,check the vehicle documents. Listings of the trouble for the various engine control system covered in this manual are located in this section. Remember that a code only points to the faulty circuit, NOT necessarily to a faulty component. Loose, damaged or corroded connections may contribute to a fault code on a circuit when the sensor or component is operating properly. Be sure that the components are faulty before replacing them, especially the expensive ones.

The Assembly Line Diagnostic Link (ALDL) or Data Link Connector (DLC) may be located under the dashboard, and is sometimes covered with a plastic cover labeled DIAGNOSTIC CONNECTOR.

  1. The diagnostic trouble codes can be read by grounding test terminal B . The terminal is most easily grounded by connecting it to terminal A (internal ECM ground). This is the terminal to the right of terminal B on the top row of the ALDL connector.
  2. Once the terminals have been connected, the ignition switch must be moved to the ON position with the engine not running.
  3. The Service Engine Soon or Check Engine light should be flashing. If it isn't, turn the ignition switch OFF and remove the jumper wire. Turn the ignition ON and confirm that the light is now on. If it is not, replace the bulb and try again. If the bulb still will not light, or if it does not flash with the test terminal grounded, the system should be diagnosed by an experienced driveability technician. If the light is OK, proceed as follows.
  4. The code(s) stored in memory may be read through counting the flashes of the dashboard warning lamp. The dash warning lamp should begin to flash Code 12. The code will display as one flash, a pause and two flashes. Code 12 is not a fault code. It is used as a system acknowledgment or handshake code; its presence indicates that the ECM can communicate as requested. Code 12 is used to begin every diagnostic sequence. Some vehicles also use Code 12 after all diagnostic codes have been sent.
  5. After Code 12 has been transmitted 3 times, the fault codes, if any, will each be transmitted 3 times. The codes are stored and transmitted in numeric order from lowest to highest.

The order of codes in the memory does not indicate the order of occurrence.
  1. If there are no codes stored, but a driveability or emissions problem is evident, the system should be diagnosed by an experienced driveability technician.
  2. If one or more codes are stored, record them. Refer to the applicable Diagnostic Code chart in this section.
  3. Switch the ignition OFF when finished with code retrieval or scan tool readings.

After making repairs, clear the trouble codes and operate the vehicle to see if it will reset, indicating further problems.

On 1994-95 3.4L and 3.8L engines, and all 1996 models, an OBD-II compliant scan tool must be used to retrieve the trouble codes. Follow the scan tool manufacturer's instructions on how to connect the scan tool to the vehicle and how to retrieve the codes.

Car cannot accelerate above 2000rpm. engine check light on


Have someone (most auto parts stores will do this for free) put a code reader to the vehicle which will pull up a error code indicating what the general reason for this is--they can also with that unit clear the code so you can try vehicle again to see if code repeats or not.

Any good repair center can and will do this first thing.

My speedo is not working on my1999 chevy venture. The van sat for 5 months while the head gaskets were being change. All is now fixed and running great except for the speedo not working.All other gauges...


Just to clear things up, there is no such code as "502" on a 1999 Chevrolet Venture. There is however a code P0502, which is low input for the vehicle speed sensor. This may sound like symantics, but it can make a huge difference when you are trying to diagnose fault codes. There is also a B0502 that is a possible code on that vehicle, so when you post a code, you need to post the ENTIRE code number including the prefix letter. (there are also U-codes and C-codes used on that vehicle)

Anyway, I'm done preaching...back to your question: Your vehicle speed sensor (VSS) probably got unplugged when the work was done and someone forgot to plug it back in.

The VSS is located in the transmission housing on the right side of the vehicle near where the right axle shaft goes into the transmission.

I have a 98 Ford Windstar and I have a code PO181 how to fix


The P0181 code should not be showing on your particular vehicle. That code is for Natural gas vehicles. Your vehicle does not have a fuel temperature sensor. As for the other codes, the 7E5 and 1FE, those are strange also. You could possibly have a problem with your code reader. Try to use a different reader maybe at a auto parts store or a local shop. If those codes are still there, then you could have a problem with your pcm. For some reason it could think that the vehicle is a natural gas vehicle. Has the vehicle been struck by lightning or been jump started recently? Something could have caused a spike in the electrical system and caused it to go haywire.

That code does not apply to this vehicle. However, sometimes a code reader will show a code incorrectly, especially if the code reader was a non-professional, home-user type unit. I have heard of people having a P0171 code show up as a P0181.

There is a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) for the P0171 code, and it details a pretty common problem that develops over time. I would suggest treating this as a P0171 code.

I have a 1999 cabrio changed the battery now radio is asking for code I do not have the code what is my solution is there a default code i can try


Probably depends on the year/model of the VW. For a 1999 through 2002 Cabrio, you would need to do this: obtain the unlock code that was shipped with the vehicle. If you don't have the unlock code, your local dealership can pull the radio and look up the code with the serial number. Once you have the unlock code, then turn on the radio. You should see SAFE displayed. After about 3 secs, "0001" should appear. Use the station preset buttons 1 through 4. Preset 1 changes the first digit of the code, and preset 2 changes the second digit, etc. Enter all 4 digits of the code. After code is entered, press right side of "Seek" button for about 2 seconds, until an audible signal is heard. If you hose up and get the wrong code...will go back to SAFE displayed. You will get another chance to enter the code. After 2 failed attempts, you have to wait 1 hour again for it to unlock. So carefully enter the correct code the first time.
Volkswagen uses the radio lock feature to prevent unauthorized users of your audio system and will not allow your radio to operate without the proper unlock code.
Volkswagen began using the anti theft feature around 1990 and is still in use in most Volkswagen vehicles today!
Step 1 - Retrieve radio serial#
Your vehicle requires that you remove the radio from the vehicle in order to retrieve your radio's serial number.
Number will start with vwz.Must be a 14 digit number.You must include all numbers and letters included in the radio serial#, including "vwz". Radio serial# Found on chassis of vehicles radio. You must remove the radio from the vehicle in order to retrieve the radio serial number. This number may be stamped in the metal, on side of radio.

Step 2 - Retrieve vehicle V.I.N #Vehicle identification number.Usually found at the bottom of drivers side window.
