Heater blower not working

Blower only works on low. replaced resistor still the same. relay clicks when moved to higher speed.

SOURCE: Blower motor has only low speed

You may need to get the correct resistor, as they are designed to only allow so much amperage to go through them. If it is getting very hot it is runnig to many amps through it. It will eventually blow and you will need to replace it anyway.

there is a blower resistor located near blower motor and housing under glove box area it is one connector with about 5 wires to it and looks thin, held by two screws this resistor controls fan speeds - possibly it will look burned may even be hot to the touch so be carefully it is the most probable cause since you obviously have power to it and ground only being the fan speeds the problem.

Hello,

The blower motor, as you have probably seen, is under the dash on the passengers side. While in Park with the parking brake applied:

Turn the Key On with fan blower set to High. Locate the blower motor and wiggle the electrical connector. If this brings the blower motor to life, a new blower motor is needed. This, if applicable, is a common failure that matches your symptoms. The new blower is simple to replace, although it is never fun working under the dash.

If you have a 12 volt test light or DVOM (multimeter) you can check for power at the electrical connector. You should have battery voltage (12+) with the blower set on high. Always use a known good ground when testing for power. If you have power (key on, set to high) and no blower operation the blower motor needs replacing.

The resistor you replaced is a very common failure on these.

Yes its the blower motor resistor.

More then likley theres some trash or something in it, or possibly the motor itself is on it's way out. There not that bad to pull out of that body car, just pull it out and see what you can see.

The blower motor is under the glove compartment

You can replace the resistor on your own. Please find a detailed diagram which would guide you to do it.

SOURCE: blower motor does not work

I had the same problem, replace, replace, replace. Check, check and recheck. What I found was the blower motor resistor, located in the blower squirrel cage area, two prongs and a curly wire, was bad. Took the new one back, (it ohmed out okay, continuity ok, all ok!) replaced it with another, and Bingo, problem solved. Frustrating to say the least. After two relays and a blower switch, and test, test and retest. It was a faulty resistor. Made in Mexico. And no guarentee, even though new, it works. Trial and error. Even the dealer parts are Honcho en Mexico. Thanks NAFTA. You gonna make us all welfare babies.

Its faulty blower motor resistor. The low and medium speed on blower motor is controlled by resistor and its actual speed is high. So because resistor is not working, blower motors actual speed which is high is working.


It can be faulty blower motor or faulty blower motor resistor. Get the blower motor inspected. If it's faulty it has to be replaced.

My heater blowers dnt work and i need to knw where i can locate the resister blocks for my heater blowers so i can ghange them


Its located under dash,or near glove box.

The dash panel lower side has to be out.

It may be your blower motor RESISTOR, in gm cars it may look like a card that is connected near the blower motor,under the dash, on most cars this is what gives you variable speeds, except on the HIGH speed is usually wired directly to the battery through a relay.

Heayer doesn't work


The resistors provide resistance in the circuit, dropping voltage to the blower motor to slow the motor speed down. On high, the blower receives full voltage through the blower relay.

If you had High but no other speeds, then the resistor pack is usually the culprit. If you have all other speeds but high, the most common problem is going to be the blower motor itself, relay, or the switch panel.

You can check this by turning the fan speed to "high", unplug the blower motor, and check to see that you have roughly at least 12v at the plug. If you have 12v, that means the switch panel is activating the relay and the relay is working. Over time, heat kills the magnetic properties of the magnets inside an electrical motor. Without enough magnetic energy, you may not get enough opposing force to spin the rotor full speed when the windings energize, but still enough to spin at lower speeds.

Another thing you can check is the connector at the blower motor and the switch panel. Sometimes these will heat up, start to deform, and cause a bad connection. The bad connection may be able to handle the lower current draw on low speeds, but the higher resistance from the bad connection won't be able to handle the higher current while in the full speed position.

I have high speed blower but no medium or low


It's likely a relay. I've often seen where the lower settings are ran through one relay and the higher setting ran through another because of the difference in amperage. I'd start there, the relays are often pretty cheap and a lot easier to replace than tearing the dash apart to change the switch.

Replacing heater blower motor


this is not a problem with thw switch or motor.
