Question about BMW 318
When i turn the key in ignition sometimes just the airbag warning light comes on ONLY and the engine turns over but wont fire. if i turn the key through positions 1 to 3 serveral times eventually all the llights on the dash light up and it fires up instantly. any ideas ?
Have you checked your ignition switch? Generally it is located "behind" the keyhole. It is a cylinder shaped thing that has contacts that might be worn or dirty.

SOURCE: H2 Hummer
Today 11-12-08 my 2003 H2 Hummer would not start. Checked battery it ischarged. Cables tight. Tried to start with portable booster pak. No go. Tridto jump start with my wife's Suburban. Still no go.
When I turn the switch I hear a single click and that is it. No engine turning over. While trying to start with key the headlights go out. Out of ideas, Will take to Chevy garage in am. Will post solution.

Sounds Like the Starter RELAY is Bad After Exhausting All other Test, Go For The RELAY
A SURE-SHOT way Is to Jumper Wire From Battery to (STARTER SIDE) of Relay if starter Works then Its the Starter Relay if NOT>>Then Its the STARTER<) Relay Instruction Below. STARTER Instructions Very Bottom
WARNING: WHEN PERFORMING MAINTENANCE ON THE STARTING SYSTEM BE AWARE THAT HEAVY GAUGE LEADS ARE CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO THE BATTERY. MAKE SURE PROTECTIVE CAPS ARE IN PLACE.

Yes, it sounds like your solenoid is bad and staying engaged against the flywheel, you could do an amperage draw and a voltage drop test to find out for sure, but you will need an DVOM and a amp clamp. Or you could take it into an auto parts store and they will test it for free. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Engine won't start
The fact the engine rotates indicates a good battery, that's eliminated from the search.
The problem is of Main/Auxiliary Power Supply. Trace the Main Battery cacle from the Starter, if it has more than 1 Power cable attached, looking for a connector break running back to the Power Box. If the Starter has only 1 supply cable, then look for a loose joint on that Battery to Power Box Connector Block, or broken 'Spade' connector. If again all appears ok, by using the "Idiot" diagram, on the Power Box and Fuse Box, pull each Maxi and Service Fuse and Relay in turn, looking for a Failure. Should this not detect the fault come back to me again.
