SOURCE: Gas meter jumps to Full

Fault in the fuel sensing rheostat in th tank , it can be faulty dur to an open resistance or the floating tank can be damaged.
It must be taken out and cheked with a meter to show the variable resistance. if not change.
check the lead to the dash board guage if there is wiring or connection issue the meter can be faulty.

Warning light for low fuel stays on

The sensor is part of the fuel pump module inside the gas tank.
The signal is sent to the body computer, so it could be a faulty module or a problem with the body computer.
The circuit would need to be checked with a meter.

-5 outside, very little gas, car will not start, frozen gas line

This is a tough situation if you cannot get the vehicle indoors. That is the best course of action to unfreeze the lines. You can use an electric blanket or heating pad where practical but i would caution against any kind of open flame like a kerosene heater or even using a blow dryer.
It may not help right now but in the future if you know the temp is going to be low filling your fuel tank at least 1/2 and using a fuel line antifreeze is the best solution. In the absence of actual fuel line antifreeze, you can use 90% rubbing alcohol in small amounts (depending on fuel level but likely no more than 8oz for a full tank) to prevent freezing.

79 c10 - guages all read low except gas guage which reasd high. Truck runs fine. Lights work, even the dash lights work good.

It sounds like you might have a poor ground connection somewhere. You can test each individual gauge for full travel by grounding the wire the goes the each gauges individual sender. In other words to check the temp gauge, ground the wire that goes to the temp sender. The temp sender is in the left cylinder head between the #1 and #2 spark plug ( looks like a brass pipe plug with a single wire coming from it) if you ground the wire with the key on (engine off) the gauge should go to the end of the scale (hot) with the wire off it should go to full cold. You can do this with the gas gauge too but not the amp gauge or volt meter. If the volt gauge is reading low (if it has one) and you know that battery voltage is good (don't guess, measure with a multi-meter) there has to be a poor connection somewhere.

The gas gauge reads empty and gas light is on even when gas tank is full

this problem is caused by a defective gas tank sending unit for the gage and the low fuel light, replace the sending unit.

Gas meter isn't working

The gas tanks sending unit is bad, replace it, you may be able to gain access to it through a panel in the trunk or under the back seat.

Fuel gauge reads E when first started, jumps to F after awhile

It is more likely to be the fuel guage sender which is faulty.

Had to have my car jumped off when the battery when bad and the gas gauge stopped working. checked fuses and all are good.

Take the battery to Auto Zone for a check. As for the gas gage you would have to drop the gas take and replace the unit, a tough job not wore the hassle. Just keep the tank full.

Fuel gauge jumps around

Depending on the severity of the problem, Sea Foam fuel additive can fix this (or at least lessen the crazy jumping around). It's available at NAPA. It worked on my Jimmy. However, in my case gauge started jumping around with less than 1/4 tank (worked fine when full).

Gas gauge

Sounds like you have a bare or broken wire earthing out on the chassis/body Trace the wires from the tank back to the engine bay and check that the wires are intact.
