Question about 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera

Where if fuel pressure test port 1990 oldsmobile cutlass ciera 4 cylinder - O2 sensore read code 44

I want to test the fuel pressure on this car. It is fuel injected throttle body. I was wondering if there is a test port somewhere or do I need to break a line. I am getting an intermittent code 44 (O2 sensor lean for 20 seconds) We already changed the fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator and fuel injector.

The internet is filled with all sorts of OBD1 Code 44 info to read

Bad Egr Valve --letting unmetered air in
Vacuum Leaks in the Exhaust Before the O2 Sensor
Bad Oxygen Sensor or corroded wiring
Vacuum leaks anywhere
Fuel Pressure too low
& more

You'd have to tee into the fuel filter to use a fuel pressure gauge,
if you got no shrader valve on the motor

You changed a fuel pressure regulator-- in the throttle body?

You won't see much with a scope on that system, if you scope
the O2 Sensor,their sort of slow compared to OBD2

SOURCE: 1990 ciera cutlass no fule to the injecters fuel

Test procedure on that is a bit involved. You will need a volt/ohmeter and an injector harness test light. Instructions in haynes are pretty much from gm so they are a bit better than with some other cars.

SOURCE: it is a 1990 cutlass

If the car has high mileage, it is quite likely that the cam timing has changed due to a jumped timing chain or gear...depends on which engine it has?

Does a 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera SL 3.3ltr 6 cyl have a timing in the e this car seems to drag when I hit the gas to accelerate quickly. Cutlass Ciera SL 3.3ltr

Say what? a timing in the e?? It has a timing chain, it has computer controlled timing advance, not adjustable. Um...

Such hesitation could be from old, worn spark plugs, old, worn plug wires, a dirty air filter, a dirty fuel filter. (Is your check engine light on when running? If so, look for the trouble codes.) Could be a sensor too, I think maybe the mass air flow sensor should be checked. Another sensor for this could be the throttle position sensor. If everything checks out so far, you should have the fuel pressure tested and checked. Just possibly the fuel pump needs changing. Testing the pressure will tell you.
All I can think of so far, enough to keep you busy checking?

88 olds cutlass ciera international getting error code 45 cant find it in the book

Code 45 is for a rich O2 sensor. If you have already changed the sensor, the fuel mixture may actually be rich.
Possible causes include a leaking fuel injector, faulty fuel pressure regulator, or other problems.

I have a 1990 cutlass and won't start. changed plugs and wires and fuel pump

You need to first check the fuel pressure, the test port is at the top of the engine and looks like a large tire valve, you will need to purchase a special fuel pressure test kit though. You also need to check for fault codes in the engine electronics, to do that follow the instructions HERE

Sounds like a weak fuel pump check your fuel pressure.It should be 40-47 psi with key on engine off and with key on engine running it should be 30-44 psi if its not within specs replace fuel pump.

1990 cutlass ciera w/3300 v6, won't start, fuel presure is 45psi, has good spark, has new crank sensor. still won't start, what next.

If it has spark, the crank sensor is working. If the fuel pressure is 45psi, that's good.

Are the injectors pulsing controlled by the computer?

The Oxygen sensor is very suspect. it is easy to damage on install, even with the correct tool.

Put the old one back in and test the car...

Hello;
Check your fuel pressure regulator. Make sure you have a good vacuum to it and it is not leaking. 48 psi is a bit much and once it warms up will cause the vehicle to stumble and stall. Code 12 is a normal system.
Hope this helps.
Thanks;
