Question about 2001 Chevrolet Malibu

Open Question

There is a clicking sound under the dash just left of the steering column. It sounds much like a turn signal but it starts when I open the door to get in the car. I can not figure out what is causing the sound.

SOURCE: Left turn signal does not blink properly.

More than likely it is going to be your clock spring behind the steering wheel.

SOURCE: I cant find the center fuse block on my 03 yukon.

if you look under the dash (steering wheel) against the fire wall a little to the left is a black box with a plastic nut that sticks out. you can loosen it with your fingers and then just pull off the cover. The inside of the cover has a diagram of the fuses.

Sounds like the door chime/timer module has been removed. It goes up under the dash on the left side of the steering column. It was just taped to the harness.

Turn signal light right flash

flasher/blinker is busted. this is located under your dash board. remove steering column cover, turn on LEFT turn signal (yes, the one that is working), then you will hear a clicking sound. locate the relay that causes the sound. there you can see 2 relays (one for LEFT, other one for RIGHT turn),replace busted one.

2004 malibu classic turn signals work properly when off still make clicking noise

Your turn signal flasher unit must be bad. Never heard of this. The flasher is under the dash. Just follow the clicking sound till you find it, probably up under dash around the steering column. Replace it and you should be good.

My left turn signal works but it wont blink which fuse is it? or is it something els?

It sounds like the flasher relay is stuck closed. It is located under the left side of the dash, to the right side of the steering column. Try replacing that and double check if you recently replaced any bulbs that they have the correct base for the sockets. Sometimes the bulb might look right but the base is slightly different. The correct turn signal bulb for your vehicle is a 2057, and an EL12 or FL12 for the flasher relay.

Where do replace the flasher. is it under the hood?

Hi!!
Check under dash, usually to the left of the steering column. Turn Ignition Key to the ON position (engine OFF) and the Turn Signal lever to either side, follow the clicking sound, if Turn Signal Flasher is completely out, activate the hazard lights, if they work, follow that click, usually both flashers are together.
Good Luck! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.

Where is the turn signal flasher located on a 1992 oldsmobile cutlass cirea

SOMETIMES THE FLASHER IS IN THE FUSEBOX , SOMETIMES IT WILL BE UNDER THE DASH NEAR THE STEERING COLUMN. THERE ARE TWO FLASHERS ONE FOR TURN SIGNALS & ONE FOR HAZARD LIGHTS. THE TURN SIGNAL FLASHER MAY BE YELLOW & ONE OF THE WIRES WILL BE PURPLE. YOU CAN TURN ON THE HAZARD SWITCH IF THEY WORK YOU CAN LOCATE THAT FLASHER BY THE CLICKING SOUND & ELIMINATE THAT FLASHER & LOOK FOR THE YELLOW PLASTIC ONE. A SMALL MIRRIO MAY BE HELPFUL UNDER THE DASH.

Where is the location of the turn signal flasher?

I have a 94 Sonoma and to locate the turn signal flasher, inside, under dash, on left side is a plastic sound protector, mine had 3 screws holding it up, drop this down and straight in you will see a 1" round thing - this is the flasher.

Directional signals make vitually no audible when clicking

There is a turn signal switch device found under the dash that can sometimes be placed in an area that impedes the sound from reaching the driver. Turn the signal on while parked and in a safe area and listen for the source of the turn signal sound under the dash. Many times they are found along the steering column. Use a long screwdriver touched on the actual assembly and place the handle to your ear to verify that this is the correct assembly. If it is and it's not blocked somehow, check with a parts store for a replacement and tell the you would like one that has a substantially louder indicating sound. They should be able to accommodate and once replaced should resolve this safety issue.
