Yes an the fuel pump is brand new The scanner keeps telling me it's running rich an needs an EGR valve But my truck doesn't have an EGR Nor is there a vacuum leak I can find

  • Brett Cirbo Mar 29, 2014

First, I will tell you...YOU DO have an EGR valve. Ford has always been good at making them hidden. Look for '2' vaccum hoses, (usually solid plastic, Red and Black), and you should see it coming of the EVR Valve, and tied into the manifold vaccum as well. If $ will allow, then replace BOTH in tandem, but if the EGR/EVP system is not at fault, then I would look towards the Catalytic Converter for a partial plug.

sounds like your egr valve is stuck open. check for false vacuum signal to egr valve holding it open or for a plain old bad stuck open EGR valve.

Runs fine then it trys to die and runs very ruff acts like its starving for fuel changed fuel filter and still does it ?

Check the fuel pump pressure.
Also; when you use gas with ethanol, it attracts humidity that can turn into water during storage.
The answer is premium fuel.

Fuel problem

try checking the eec relay and the eec relay. Does this truck have dual tanks. If it does check the selector switch. mine went bad and burned up both relays. If these are not the problem then you will need to check fuel pump. it or they are located in the tank or tanks.

2000 ford explore, wont start. if I prime it, it starts right up and stays running fine. shut it off and it wont start again.

I'd go through, and first check the fuses that go back to the fuel pump, and make sure it is making contact before you have to go chasing ghosts. If that doesn't work, then you might try checking your fuel pressure: prime it, run the engine for a few minutes, then kill it: watch to see if the pressure drops off pretty quick after the fuel pump is off. I'm betting on a ground at the fuel pump, though: the simple act of the vibrating running engine usually provides a decent connection.

It sounds like a problem with the idle air control valve. However, the possibilities are too numerous to explore here. I suggest that you drive to the nearest AutoZone and get a FREE diagnostic scan and get back to me,

All the best,

Truck acts like it is running out of gas? Replaced fuel filter. Ran fine for awhile but now still acts like it is starving for fuel.

my '93 f-250 (4.9L) stopped running while driving, now it acts like it isn't getting any fuel. Tried switching tanks, but still does the same. What would be the problem.
