SOURCE: glove box, LOCK BROKEN IN LOCK POSITION

If the glove box is anything like mine it is a modular piece assembled with screws.... let them break the handle.. get a replacement first from a junk dealer and have the broken part swapped out. Its like a seat belt catch in my 97 deville. The glove box in mine flopped open and the catch had broken and fell down the door of the glovebox itself. The whole door is assembled with philips screws and should be easily removed and a new latch put in.. whoever does it should not cost more than 50.00 in labor MAYBE unless you have a friend that would do it for a beer. I saw a complete glove box on ebay for 40.00 shipping ontop of that .. i saw the latch for 20.00 +shipping.

SOURCE: passenger electric door lock not working on '94 sedan de ville

what it sounds like to me is ,a rod or linkage that attaches from the electrical solenoid to the lock mechanism has came apart, see these rods and linkage are held by thin metal and sometime plastic clips and they can brake and crack at any given time! u need to remove the door panel and sound barrier and inspect all the mechanism.when u remove the panel lift/pry the window up and dn button panel out of the arm rest and u will see a phlip screw head, this has to be removed before u try to remove the door panel, when the screw is removed, grab the door panel with one hand by the bottom and the top by the window with the other and give it a quick **** straight up, their may be a pop in fastener at the lower left hand corner of the panel, so u may have to pop it out first, then **** it up, u will see plastic fingers around the panel that set in the door to hold it in, be careful not to brake them off, now u can move the panel out of the way enough to do what needs to be done and not have to disconnect any electrical plugs,(hopfully).hope this helps, just take your time and u should have no problem, and save some $. good luck to u..

High beams wont come on !!

What relay's an fuse's ? open and close circuit test to the bulb connectors ??????? Voltage testing with a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter !
B+voltage going into the multifunction switch ? Fuse F2.59 7.5 amp located in the central junction box . Green with red trace goes to mulitifunction switch (high beam ) pin #6 , Pin#7 multifunction switch green with yellow trace goes to control (energize ) High beam relay . Control side high beam relay grounds at G103 ! High beam relay located in the battery junction box . Do you know how to test for B+ voltage ? Forget this open and close circuit test . Voltage drop testing is the correct way to test a electrical circuit , the circuit has to be energized .
Do you know what a wiring diagram is ? Did you view a wiring to know what you were testing ? If know ,you can't say you have a compleat circuit. Battery keeps draining

electric problems are the worse. if you know its a good battery, and i
mean good. have your alternator tested by the pros they nomally do
this at no charge. if it test good, well something somewhere is on.
simply test unhook your ground lead on the fully charged battery.
now hook it back up if you notice a small spark when doing this
something is on. dome light, glove box light, brake light, power lock
switch gone bad. something is on dude good luck!!!

06 audi battery not holding a charge.. changed the vbattery and drain is still there. what is the problem?

Have you had the alternator checked yet. If it is not providing sufficient power when driving the battery is the only other power source and it will drain. However there should have been an alternator warning pop up.

If the alternator is checked and is fine you will need the auto electrician to run some tests to see where the abnormally high power draw is originating from assuming that the battery is otherwise good. (Battery power can be drained by faults in power window switches and faults with electric seat motors etc etc)

You also need to run some checks yourself first to ensure that items like glove box and trunk light switches are being activated to cut light power when closed.

77 Caddy Battery drains--alternator and battery have been tested and both are good

If the alternator and battery is tested and pass then you current draw that has to be known. Do you have a test light? youll have to put it in series to negative terminal to negative battery . if it light up there you start the hunt glove box light bulb trunk light bulb.and dash lights.didnt the 77 have power seats? they are popular for battery drain is it warm how about the passenger side why the seat well because they have power even without the key in ignition. Here is your find without test light , with the car sitting feel the power seat is it warm if it is there is your drain, if it isnt go to glove box is the bulb warm if it is there the short, if its not check the trunk where ever the draw is at it has to do with devices that turn on without the key being needed.

Why does my battery keep going dead I have relaced it 3 times a new alternator if the car sits for 2 days or more and is not started and ran the battery is completely dead

BATTERY DRAINS ARE TRICKY. TURN OFF ALL SWITCHES, CLOSE GLOVE BOX. MAKE SURE GLOVE BOX LIGHT IS OUT. OPEN THE HOOD. DISABLE THE UNDER HOOD LIGHT. CLOSE ALL THE DOORS. MAKE SURE ALL COURTESY LIGHTS ARE OUT. DISCONNECT NEG. BATTERY CABLE. USE 12 VOLT TEST LIGHT, CONNECT ONE END TO A METAL PIECE ON THE MOTOR FOR GROUND. FASTEN THE OTHER END TO THE NEGATIVE BATTERY POST. IF THE LIGHT IS ON, THAT MEANS THERE IS A BATTERY DRAIN. LIGHT NOT ON, NO DRAIN. IF THE LIGHT IS ON, FIND THE POWER BOX NEAR THE BATTERY. PULL OUT ONE FUSE, IF THE LIGHT STAYS ON PUT HE FUSE BACK, PULL OUT THE NEXT FUSE. IF THE LIGHT STAYS ON PUT THE FUSE BACK . REPEAT THIS UNTIL THE LIGHT GOES OUT, OR GETS VERY DIM. OUT IS BETTER. WHEN THE LIGHT GOES OUT, THAT IS THE CIRCUIT THAT IS DRAINING THE BATTERY. REFER TO OWNERS MANUAL TO IDENTIFY THE CIRCUIT. IF THE LIGHT NEVER GOES OUT, REMOVE THE WIRES FROM THE ALTERNATOR. IF THE LIGHT GOES OUT, ALTERNATOR NEEDS REPLACING.

1996 Volvo 850 GLT Fuse #15 keeps blowing out

Hi!

Since you've got a '96 I assume your #15 fuse is 10 amps and for the following components:

Audio System, Courtesy Lights, Door Open Light, Trunk Light, Glove Box Light, Remote Control Central Locking System, Oil Level Sensor, Seat Belt Reminder, Data Link Connector.

Turn ignition to OFF, turn off all interior lighting (by operating the selector inside the car), close all doors, wait about 20 seconds and insert a new fuse. If the fuse is blown immediately upon insertion my guess would be that you have an aftermarket audio system with faulty wiring or maybe something is wrong with you Data Link Connector. If that is not the case the problem might prove a little bit harder to find, and you'll definitely need a wiring diagram. Check this site:
http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/volvo_workshop-850techdocs.shtml

If the fuse is not blown immediately upon insertion: Good, the components affiliated with the fuse can then be grouped by what ignition position they are active at (OFF, 1, 2) and tested individually.

POSITION OFF:
- Door open light, courtesy lights, glove box light, trunk light, remote central locking system.
Make sure the glove box light really is turned off when closing the glove box.
After that it's simply a matter of testing these components one after the other (with the ignition at position OFF) by opening/closing doors, turning on/off trunk light etc, checking the fuse between each component test.
Make sure that the interior lighting is turned off when you test the central locking, or else you might end up faulttracing central locking when the problem was with the interior lighting :)
(Since the interior lights can be set to turn on when the central locking is operated).

POSITION 1:
- Usually the audio system, unless it's an aftermarket system.
If the fuse breaks the second you turn the ignition to position 1 the audio system probably has faulty wiring.

POSITION 2:
If the fuse breaks the second you turn the ignition to position 2 one of these two components is the culprit:
- Seat belt reminder, oil level sensor.
Fasten all seat belts and try again with a new fuse.
If the fuse still breaks the oil level sensor is most likely the culprit.
If the fuse didn't break the seat belt reminder is the culprit. If so you can simply disconnect the seat belt reminder relay, ridding you of both your fuse problem and the annoying seat belt reminder. The relay is located behind the cover over the drivers feet (easily removed, just a couple of torx screws, no breakable interior clips).

The central locking relay and the alarm module are also found there, as well as some other electrical components.

The Data Link Connector is an unlikely culprit, but it's probably best if you unplugged it completely during testing.
If everything turns out ok with it disconnected you can test it at the end. (The Data Link Connector is the OBD II conncetor located by the coin holder, in front of the gearchange).

Good luck!

Right turn or brake light not working

Questions? Do any of your brake lights work? Including Center Stop? Do your parking/taillights lights work? All your bulbs are multi-filiment bulbs that work through mulitple sources. Knowing which bulbs are doing what under all conditions might help narrow down the problem. Meanwhile, check for continuity between, stoplight switch and multifuntion switch (white wire). Also, check DrkBlue/White from MFSw. to Boby Control module. BE SURE to use a low inpedance tester to protect your modules. The DrkBl/Wh wire is your rigth side input. I may be a good idea while testing these wires to wiggle them to look for intermitent shorts.
