Hi lturgeon212, I want to help you with your problem, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?

  • lturgeon212 Mar 28, 2014

Thanks in advance for any help bud, On my code reader I get P0001 as the problem and like I said everything I changed hasen't fixed the problem. I don't know where the fuel volume regulator circuit is or I would change that to.

  • lturgeon212 Mar 29, 2014

Thanks for responding, The tool used to scan was the Innova 3120d with OBD 1&2 and abs. Innova solutions has no data for this and I will do a scan while the vehicle is actually driving down the highway. This engine has no leaks, purrs when idleing and only reacts when you floor the gas pedal and hold it down

  • lturgeon212 Mar 29, 2014

The last comment was for Fossil, and like I said I will scan it while diiving and if the reader doesn't say anything different or specific I will have to go to the dealer and see if they have solution. Man this sucks

the Iineline 4.0L I6 has 1 coil pack, with wasted spark, 3 coils drive 6 sparkplugs in SERIES (buy new wires). the .4.7L has 8 COPS. apples and oranges different, both the I6 and the V8 both have 4 Oxygen sensors the front onces are inportant , but engines run speed density systems, which is very reliable. (the map rearly fails. ) you'd pay a dealer to tune up your car, and why do you need a dealer with vast numbers of very good ASE certified shops, every shop can fix a jeep they are vary common. its not like a volvo or some odd car. the 4.7L has cops, and i buy cop boots with my spark plugs so they are fresh and not carbon tracked. (misfire) not inspecting spark plugs and cop boots, with misfire, misses the easy fails.

P0001, ???????? NO SUCH ANI-MULE ! (sure on a CHEVY)
the FSM covers that..... why not post engine options, after all its and engine problem , we can not guess that.ever.
my FSM shows, no such code, nada
ever do the 60k mile mandatory tune up, ever this decade?????????

are you at Autozoned? using the wrong scan tool for car?
what a shame, that would be chasing Ghosts with no name.... wow.
http://engine-codes.com/p0001.html

did you do the 3 keyon ways, to get this (ask), why not say who did this
how and what tool used (name and model number ) so we can add it
to our jeep banned tools list. (love to have it)
i use INNOVA 3160, and it works.

ok working symptoms now."
ENGINE shacks.
that is gross misfire, and the CEL flashing warns of impending CAT burn up (oper guide tells that..... and what to do)
MISFIRE HAS 25 to 50 causes, are you going to replace 50 parts to guess the cause..... nah. sure not.

want to diagnose it? and save 50 hours labor.?
and $2000 in parts. , sure..

i have the list of 50 but will not post it, as is silly to do that.
it is 1 of 3 things in the macro diagnostic methods.
bad engine, bad spark, bad fueling , in that order, always.

1: check all fuses first with a voltmeter or ohms .
2: get a real scan tool that the harbor fright POS and scan it running
bad. bingo, real codes. including the full factory codes, P1 or P2 !
you can in fact, rent obd2 tools and barrow them. at a many stores,(USA) and many honest mechancis will use there REAL tool
to scan it, for you for free. or for cheap.
there is no reason ever to skip #2, ever, in the USA, we have the tools.

3: NO CODES? NO '? id get not but lets pretend no codes.
4: check spark. at all cylinders, fat blue white spark at a fresh test spark plug.(ill assume engine is tuned up, so...)
are any spark plug tips, black, or oil soaked or fuel soaked? or looking ugly (this is a top evidence check)
5: spark good, engine compression at 150psi or more times num of cylinders. yea.? then its bad fueling.

6: I start engine, and see the front oxy sensors slammed to lean.
yes, scan tool wins again, and LTFT fuel trim, is way off, scale.

7: I check fuel pressure and its way too high. fix that.
8: i check the regulation of the fuel pressure, if bad, the reg is bad.

9: I then do the injector leak down test in the FSM (allcars)
it fails. i have a leaking injector. (or leaking reg)
say it passes. so i do the fSM (all cars, all engine books EFI) test called
the Injector balance test. i find #1 is very weak. its clogged and #1 misfires like a dog, cause the 02 sensor to go nuts.

I can show videos of all tests. the man that does that best is
Mr. Duane. ask..........??????
he is and ASE master... and does the best vids on the web.

here are some. just a sample.
http://www.fixkick.com/Duanes-World.html

not knowing the engine, type and size, i can not quote specs.

good luck.

SOURCE: New fuel pump but no gas to the fuel rail

When I first posted, I did not read "comments" after reading what you have done and our results, it seems as though the engine control system "thinks" the engine is running when it is not. I don't believe this is a key switch problem, otherwise if you turned the key to "on" it would flood the engine. Therefore there is a strong possibility that the engine control unit is staying "hot" even when shut down, permitting the pump relay &injectors to receive trigger signals .BUT, I would also take a look at the pressure regulator on the fuel rail. flow through there may be causing the pump to stay on if too much fuel is being bypassed. And, again...did you check codes???

SOURCE: 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Fuel Pump?

Between 100-140 thousand miles the fuel pumps go out on the 1993 cherokee. Its a fact. All parts are manufactured with the knowledge that it will last for a specific period of time then it dies. The relay switch was helpful for a brief while because there was still some juice in that pump, but now that it is gone it is gone.

If you don't see the fuse box under the dash in the driver leg area or beneath the radio check for a covered box under the hood. There should be a fuse spec guide on the lid of the box that tells you where specific wattage should go and for what purpose. But, your fuel pump problem will not be solved by a new fuse.

SOURCE: 1996 Grand Cherokee intermitant stalling

i've tried all the above solutions and still experiencing the same problem. in doing some research it may be an electrical problem, the bolts holding the firewall may be grounding it before it should be and with expansion and contraction of metal in different weather conditions may help explain why it doesn't happen all the time. try messing with that

sounds alot the the pcm it controls the fuel pump and ign system but the anti theft would keep it from starting because the key has a transponder in it programmed for that vehicle and that would kill all ign if triggered

code p 0001 refers to fuel volume regulator control---circuit open===causes ---wiring---regulator control solenoid
the indications are that the solenoid is opening circuit ( breaking the circuit ) and stops working when it gets hot internally
replacing that unit most likely will be the fix for your problem

Out of the box, I'd say that you have a problem with the fuel management system. However, there's a good chance that it's something simple and inexpensive like a clogged fuel filter or water in the fuel tank.

2005 Neon engine light came on and stays on. Car drives okay. Has around 34,000 miles. No other problems

Take it to Autozone or Advanced auto and get an engine diagnostic and ask them to printout the results. Most times it's a sensor.

Open fuel regulator control

There are 2 fuel pressure regulators on your fuel rail. They are being held in by a clip. Just remove the clip and it will pop out. Don't forget about the seal.
