Question about 2005 Kia Sedona LX
My Kia is 9yrs old. She has 130,000 miles on her mostly original parts. Been a great ride and I have only had to replaced the timing belt & water pump (is time to replace those again), and the alternator, but yesterday I believe the accessory bearings or pulleys locked up while driving, caused friction on my serpetine belt and created an awful burning smell. Here's my question. Would it be cost effective to try and repair it or just go buy a new car? I figure it might be time for the other stuff to start going out as well and I hate to put money into something that's on its way out, plus I have no idea what that accessory bearing/pulley will cost me. Fix or Buy? What am I looking at? And if I Buy, what to do with the 05 Kia? Have her towed to the wreckers? What does one do with a disabled van besides sell for scrap metal? Any thoughts?
Definitely fixable. Take the serpentine belt off and figure out which accessory is locked up. if you're lucky it's just the idler wheel (the one that puts tension on the belt)

Testimonial: "Well I saw some water leaking the other day and thought it was my A/C overflow, but there was quite a bit of it, and in hindsight, now I woner if water pump was involved and since I had to drive about 400 yard to get home, wonder if the engine was damaged? The only lights hat came on were my battery light and my Brake light.. No engine light. The brake & battry will not go off. I also noticed a small pool of fluid about the size of softball, ubder front side of van when I parked in driveway.. it was reddish like transmission fluid.. ???"
