You have a short, probably a frayed wire and it's grounding out to the chassis

I know it's a short, that is obvious.Where would I start to check the short.I know electrical will be expensive.I would like to try to fix it myself with some assistance.Thank You

check at the flex points of the folding top. flexion + wiring = fraying. Should be pretty easy to spot if you can access the wires

SOURCE: 20 amp fuse in ACC slot keeps blowing

ACC slot is the Accessories slot. Perhaps there is a short or overload condition in the vehicle with the cigarette lighter or an add on electronic device.

Try to connect the two posts of the solenoid to see if bypassing the key cylinder works the starter. If it does, then this points to the key switching problem for the starter to the solenoid.

Also, check the neutral/back up safety switch:
Neutral Start/Back-Up Light Switch REPLACEMENT & ADJUSTMENT

  1. Remove the console trim from the console.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the switch.
  3. Remove the 2 attaching screws from the switch and remove the switch. Fig. 1: Neutral start/back-up light switch 85347017.gif

  4. To install a new switch:
    1. Place the switch onto the transmission control shifter and loosely install the attaching screws. Position the transmission control shifter assembly in the N notch in the detent plate.
    2. Assemble the switch to the transmission control shifter assembly by inserting the carrier tang into the hole in the shifter lever.
    3. Install the attaching screws and tighten.
    4. Move the transmission control shifter assembly out of N position. This will shear the switch internal plastic pin.
  5. To install the original switch:
    1. Place the switch onto the transmission control shifter and loosely install the attaching screws. Position the transmission control shifter assembly in the N notch in the detent plate.
    2. Rotate the switch on the shifter assembly to align the service adjustment hole with the carrier tang hole. Insert a 3⁄32 in. (2.38mm) diameter gauge pin to a depth of 9⁄16 in. (15mm) and tighten attaching screws.
    3. Remove the gauge pin.
  6. Connect the electrical connector to the switch.
  7. Install the console trim to the console.

I now have the problems no power on 99 Cadillac catera.keeps blowing fuse infuse relay box under hood. #17 says fuse 43 on diagram, but not sure what amp fuse to use? 20 or had a30 amp

For your safety, never change fuses with one of a different rating. It just isn't done. And anyway, if you put in a lower rated fuse where it keeps blowing a 30 amp fuse, you will not be ahead, it will blow every fuse you try. Because you have a short in the circuit that that fuse protects. You will just have to find the short in that circuit. Shorts happen with bad electrical motors, or a wire with insulation stripped off that is able to touch metal-when that happens it will spark, and the surge in electricity will blow the fuse. I don't know what that fuse is for, but someone needs to find out what circuit it is and what all is on that circuit, to start looking for the short.

My wh statesman keeps blowing engine/bcm fuse. using bigger fuse allows it to start but blows again shortly after

Don't keep trying bigger fuses. It will only cause more problems, like burnt wiring that will need replacing, or starting a fire.
You either have an electrical component that is shorted and causing too much power draw, or you have some open wire that is shorting to ground by touching metal.
You or an electrician will need to look at a wiring diagram to see what all is on that circuit that is blowing the fuse. Then start taking one part of it loose at a time to try and isolate the problem. See any smoke or smell plastic burning when the fuse pops?

Front windows fuse keeps blowing on my peugeot 307cc as i try to change it ,when I try to insert the new fuse it make sparks at the connector and the fuse blows I even tried to disconnect the battery first...

The fuse is blowing because there is a short to ground on the load side (between fuse and device being protected). Remove the inside door panel and take a close look at the wires between the window motor and where it feeds into the door. My bet is the up and down of the window gears scraped the wire bare. find the bare spot, electrical tape around exposed wire, secure the loose wire to the door using tie wrap so that metal does not contact wire. If there are not visible bare spots, remove the connection to the motor. You will need to pick up a short circuit tester, or a volt meter to isolate this problem

Peugot 306 indicator noise and wfront electric windows

hey kempster_rob the problem is in the wiring between the doors and the body, the wiring is short and is constructed wrong, so when you after 3000 openings and closings the wires brakes and either loose connection or makes shortcuts between the different cables causing fuse blows and disrupted working electrical system. Solution is to open the isolation around the cables and either repair them or displace them, its possible to buy a repair kit at the peugeot dealer

1990 toyota pickup 3.0 v6,engine will not start, keep blowing efi fuse

You need to look for a short in the engine harness, anywhere that the harness rubs on engine componets etc. In the past 30 years of car work this is where the problem most often occurs.
