2004 chevy cavalier wi'll not start unless I keep my foot on gas. Then it will start but won't stay running until it warms up. While driving it runs fine untill you brare then it stalls out.

Pressing the pedal down, puts in clear flood mode. Any applicable trouble codes? Did you use a gage and check correct fuel pressure, also, see if pressure will hold for a bit, with everything off. If it drops like a rock you have fuel leak. Pull vac line off fuel pressure regulator, where applicable, if fuel runs out, you have a faulty fuel pressure regulator. You could have fuel injector leak?
Smell of your crankcase oil dipstick, if it smells like gas, either you don't change your oil and filter very often or fuel leak. There could be other issues? You have to start testing, somewhere.

My 2004 trailblazer doesn't want to crank only after I put gas in it. I thought it may be the fuel pump, but now it trys to stay running after I switch it off. What in the world c an this be?

Could be a bad fuel pressure regulator. Doesn't start because you lost fuel pressure. Stays running because the regulator is still dumping fuel directly in the intake plenum because of pressure. It is in front on the drivers side. Pull the vacuum hose, if it is wet and/or smells of gas. Replace it.

Will fuel pressure regulator stop engine from starting

Yes it can if it can't maintain the correct fuel pressure. I would also check that the injectors are getting a signal from the ECM.

i would check the fuel pressure. see how fast the pressure goes down. most cars i have worked on it dosnt take that many key-ons to get fuel. a fuel pressure regulator could be leaking. there is a check ball in the pump to keep the fuel from draining back. since the pump is new, i would check the regulator and poss. the injectors. its poss. for an injector to leak or stick open

While driving my 2004 gmc truck IM can smell gas

If you have a hesitation when you try to drive after you first start your truck or you notice a strong gas smell under the hood it could be a leaky fuel pressure regulator which is one the drivers side on the fuel rail I had a pressure regulator leaking on my truck it took me a while to figure what it was because I only smelled a gas smell after starting and driving a few places and then after I opened my hood and followed my nose I found that was what it was it is a easy fix cost ya about $30 I was told to disconnect power on battery and turn your key on and listen for a sound from fuel pump to release pressure this helps on the gas really leaking out and pressure before removing old one...then just take yours out and remember how you took it out and make sure you put the O ring on the new one that comes with it and just put it in and clip it and put back on rubber line and that's it... if that's not the problem then it could be leaky injectors which is not a fun job...good luck hope this helps !!

White smoke and foam in the gas tank indicates antifreeze leaking into the engine somewhere. Do you smell antifreeze? You may have an engine seal leaking, most likely head gasket. It may be affecting the various engine sensors.

1992 mercury sable will turn over but wont start

Make sure battery has a full charge. If it cranks good but won't start, check the basics. Have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs, if spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. I looked at info for the 3.8L engine, 35--40 psi. Also, after you build fuel pressure, turn off the key, see if fuel pressure holds for a bit? If the pressure drops like a rock, check for fuel pressure leak. Check the vac line for fuel pressure regulator, if it has gas in it, the regulator is faulty, or a leaking fuel injector. The pressure could also drain back through fuel pump.
Also, check fuel injector pulse, engine cranking. Any applicable trouble codes?
Smell of the crankcase oil dipstick, if it smells like gas, either you don't change oil and filter very often or the engine is running very rich for some reason.

Inside the cabin strong gas smell after fill up for approx 50 miles. 2003 Honda Odyssey 85k miles.

do you have the same fuel economy as before or does you gas last less miles than before. if you can smell gas whether the car is running or NOT that means you have a leak in your fuel system if it was not a leak, you would not smell it when not running . first thing is check under vehicle after overnight parking and see if there is fuel on the ground if there is , this will give you a starting point where to look for gas leak. Plugged, dirty or poorly connected fuel injector; Leaking fuel filter or fuel filter connections; Punctured or damaged fuel tank; Loose or poorly connected fuel pump; Gas in gas can in trunk.
