Question about 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
Its on when rpm is under 1000. start and drive no problem
If you have the correct amount of good quality clean oil in the truck, use a mechanical gauge to check actual oil pressure. If all is well, replace sender unit.

You may not have put the right amount of oil in your car, your oil pressure sensor could be faulty, or you may have a leak.
By revving your engine, you're increasing the pressure and thus turning off the light and making the sensor think that it's at the correct pressure.

SOURCE: Car won't idle
First if the "service engine" light is on I would have a local retailer or garage see what the codes are. For possible TPS, IAC, or mass air flow problems. TPS being "throttle position sensor" IAC being "idle air control" If a light is not currently present, listen under the hood for a hissing noise or signs of a vaccum leak.

Testimonial: "Thank you. Light not on. Will check vacuum lines. Plan to look at valve and clean up any carbon. Am going to replace fuel filter."
