TUNE UP TIME. I-6 engine?
old spark parts JUST HATE water.
100 years, of this and same.
do the 60,000 mile tune up, called the service schedule. lost it?
we have it
cap ,rotor, wires, spark plugs, filters,. fuel and air.
i bet it runs now. (for sure, it has great chances)
id also check engine compression. for 150psi x 6 w.o.t.
mine, loved to crank the Exhaust manifold , and cause the
O2 sensor to go nuts. (but is not related to cold starts)
the cause was a broken exh, clamp, below the bell housing,
making the exh. pipe to wag like dogs tail, bending header and cracking it(mine had nice SST header stock)
that was the only bug in my jeep. I6
other than the monthly ISC sticking and cleaning (IDLE out of control)
i cured it. (ask)

97 cavalier has been sitting for 3 days in cold weather and wont start, how can I start it?

Depends on why it won't start. You could try spraying carb cleaner or starting fluid into the air intake hose. You may want to check for spark at the plugs first and make sure the plugs are not wet.

My 2006 Lincoln Zephyr does not start on cold days

The thing to do is have the vehicle hooked up to diagnostic scan tool . Viewing engine sensor data ,see whats off . The computer may think the vehicle is warmer then it is an giving it less fuel . Checking coolant temp sensor data , IAT - intake air temp sensor . 048 Engine Hard to Start or No Start Scan Data for Starting Problems

Takes 10 or more trys to start if it sits for several hours if it sits for a couple of days it will start right up

I happened to have owned the exact Model and Year of this car. I did not have this problem but can suggest a few potential parts which can do this.

What you are describing is likely due to a "heat sink" condition in electrical components or failure of the "cold start sequence" to reset.

The cold start sequence needs a water sensor to tell the ECM to reset from driving Mode to Starting Mode. Cars usually have 2 identical sensors with 1 working the dash gauge and the other operating the signal to the ECM. This is a silent failure and usually not picked up by the onboard diagnostics. It is an inexpensive part. But, the ECM could be bad if it does not do anything with the signal. The ECM is expensive.

The other part I have in mind works the same way with the ECM. The O2 sensors also tell the ECM what to do. The cold setting for the O2 is different than the Hot setting. When the O2 is hot, it makes the engine get a signal to run lean, often too lean to start. Sometimes this error is picked up on the onboard diagnostics, but not always. Someone would need to unplug the O2 sensors and test them electrically to see what values they show.

Relays can also cause a problem like yours. After shutting off the engine relays can be hot. These hot relays will cool over time, but the points or coils inside may not work properly when the engine is restarted too soon.

Last, have your battery checked. A hot battery can drop voltage and it may be at that tipping point where electrical values are changed throughout the system.

Hello All - I'm hoping someone here can give me a few ideas. My 92 toyota celica st has sit for about 5 days - for the last 3 days the temp outside has been in the single digits. Went to go start today and...

You can try this.
Turn on the key and listen for the fuel pump to prime.
It will sound like a gentle hum. when it stops, turn the key off. wait a few seconds and do it again. Do this three or four times, but don't try to start it. after the third or fourth time you turn it off, try to start it. It may not be priming the fuel injectors fast enough.

Car won't start HELP PLEASE

Hello...

I would start, since it is cold outside by checking to make sure the battery is in good shape. If it is not, it will run but when the cold comes it will eventually not turn over. Note: Turning on the lights to see if they are bright is not a good check for the batteries abilty to crank the car. If you have a Checker or Autozone or other auto parts store see if they can test your battery for you.

With the sudden stop starting I would also suspect possibly the fuel pump or the pump relay.

Good Luck...

Mike
