Question about 2005 Saturn L 300
Crank but won't start only if I spray stating fluid, then it starts and stays running
There is a lot of types of starting fluid. Some is kind of safe....kind of!! Most will destroy your engine!! If you are using starting fluid on a Saturn, you really need to stop. Your fuel pressure could be incorrect. The fuel pump relay could be bad, or a fuse. Your fuel pump may be going out. Listen to your fuel pump when you turn the key to the "run" position before turning the starter over. You shoulh hear a 2 second buzz from the fuel pump. If you don't hear this , you have a fuel pump issue.

If the engine fires up for a second or two with starting fluid then the fuel pump is weak.I would check the fuel pressure and if its not within the specs then replace the pump and filter.

no as long as its running the alternator will suply electric with it running out of fuel the pump and filter would have pulled all the muck from inside the tank put plenty of fuel in maybe quarter of a tanks charge battery after a few days it should be ok but if not get fuel filter changed hope this helps ivan

sounds like your engine is not getting any fuel. check your fuel filter to see if it needs to be changed. Fuel lines are under pressure. Be careful because on some vehicles you need to turn the fuel pumb breaker off and crank the engine over for about 10 seconds to depressurize your fuel line before removing the fuel filter. (check motor manuel to see where your breaker is located. One of my cars has the breaker in the trunk of the car, while my other vehicle has it in the passenger side panel). A more serious problem is that it could be your fuel pump. The fuel pump is usually located in the gas tank. Regardless, of where the problem is you will need to replace you fuel filter anyway.
