The PCV valve may be fine but what about the hose . It cab ne blocked up . Is the PCV valve connected up right . It is a one way valve and opens under vacuum ( when the engine is overrunning the throttle ). The extra air from the filler cap is an indication of excessive blow by in the combustion chambers past faulty/ worn/ broken rings.

PCV valve should be at crankcase or camshaft casevalve cover?

Hi Eric:
Depending on the engine, the PVC has different locations.
There are holes through the block and head that connect the crankcase to the space under the rocker arm/valve cover.
Check to see where your oil filler cap is located. If it is in the rocker arm/valve cover there has to be a way for it to get into the crankcase.

I had to replace the intake gasket on my 2002 5.7L GMC 2500 Savana van and failed to make the distributor position. How do I readjust the timing?

you will have to bring the #1 piston to TDC on it's compression stroke (use timing mark if there is one or probe the plug hole to see when it's all the way up). To do this, you have to either pull the timing cover to check the cam sprocket marks or pull the valve cover to watch the intake valve close ahead of the compression stroke. Then, with the piston at TDC, you get the distributor rotor to align with #1 on the cap when fully seated. OK?

Where is the pcv valve on a 2002 buick lasabre

The PCV valve is located under the map sensor in a plastic housing. If you stand on the passenger side of the vehicle and look under the hood, the map sensor is the sensor right in front of you.

It should have three wires going to it. If you look closely, the sensor is clipped into a type of cap. If you grab the cap the sensor is clipped into and twist it counterclockwise, it should come off and the pcv valve will be inside. You may need new orings to prevent oil consumption. You may also need a needlenose pliers to remove the sensor from the upper intake manifold.

Hope help.

I have a 1998 Focus ZX2 with a 2.o liter. The engine seems to be starving for air. If you pull the dipstick or open the oil cap it just sucks the air in. I've check all the hoses and new pcv valve, bought...

ITshould **** in air when taking cap off as the vacuum type units are working just fine but by the sound of it the air pipe wants taking off from intake on top of engine and if it runs 100% then through away the filter system and get the correct one ..

Smoke in exhaust

You have a bad PCV valve, i don't have the time right now to help you locate it but any parts store will help you locate it. THe valve goes into the intake and has a check valve in it. THe valve is stuck open sucking oil into the intake.
