R230 MEMORY MIRROR

I can set the memory positions and they work. When reverse selected mirror dips down, when drive selected mirror comes up. But, every time I unlock the car and put the ignition key in the passenger mirror seems to go all over hunting for its correct position. I replaced the motor in the mirror but the problem persists. Is there a memory module that could be replaced. Its strange how it only does this after the car has been locked, When I start the engine I re set the memory locations and its fine for the rest of the drive.

I have a 2001 C240 with the same issue. I removed the positive battery cable from the battery and kept it off for 30 seconds then replaced it. Everything was reset and the key worked.

I think your sensors are pattern parts and the readings /resistances are not the same as the original parts ,try some bosch units is my first suggestion ,

Principles of Operation
The driver seat module (DSM) is on the controller area network (CAN) communication network. To support several vehicle subsystems, the module permits intermodule and diagnostic tool communications.
The DSM controls the memory driver seat and the passenger memory power exterior mirror. This passenger memory power exterior mirror feature allows the driver to program personalized mirror positions. Once the driver stores a mirror position, the driver can recall the setting by pressing the corresponding memory switch or by using a programmed remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter. For additional information, refer to Section 501-10 .

How to Diagnose Controller Area Network CAN

Driver Seat Module - Memory Seat
The power driver seat, power outside rear view mirrors and power adjustable pedals are controlled by the driver seat module (DSM) only when the vehicle is equipped with the programmable/recall memory option. The DSM is located on the driver seat track.
This system allows automatic positioning of the driver seat to 2 programmable positions.
  • A power driver seat position can be stored at any time. The driver must move the seat to the desired position using the driver seat switch assembly. The driver must then depress the memory SET switch which activates the memory SET switch light emitting diode (LED). Within 5 seconds (before the LED goes out), the driver must select a memory position. Memory 1 is selected by depressing memory switch 1. Memory 2 is selected by depressing memory switch 2.
  • If no memory switch input is received within the 5-second time limit, the operation is aborted and the memory seat position switch (set switch) LED is turned OFF. This also occurs if one of the following inputs is received during the 5-second programming limit:
    • Driver seat control switch
    • Memory seat position switch (set switch)
    • Power adjustable pedal switch
A programmed seat position can only be recalled when the transmission selector is in PARK or NEUTRAL with the ignition switch in the RUN position. A position may be programmed at any time.

Easy Entry/Easy Exit
The driver power seat easy entry/easy exit feature can be enabled/disabled. Refer to Section 418-01 or the owner's literature.

Set 1 2 switches? please clarify


See pg. 3-31 in owners manual. Start car in park. Adjust seat, telescoping wheel, and side view mirrors. Pust Mem button and then within 5 sec. push either 1 or 2. That button should light to show memory stored.

l"AUTOMATIC DRIVE POSITIONER (if so equipped) Two positions for the driver's seat, steering column and outside mirrors can be stored in the automatic drive positioner memory. Follow these procedures to set the memory positions: • Confirm the shift lever is in the P (PARK) position. • Push the ignition switch to the ON position. • Adjust the driver's seat, steering column and outside mirrors to the desired positions using the adjusting switches for each feature. • Push the SET switch and within 5 seconds, push the memory switch (1 or 2) for at least 1 second. • The indicator light on the memory switch you select will illuminate for approximately 5 seconds. • The driver's seat, steering column and outside mirror positions are now set to your preference. These memorized positions can also be linked to your NISSAN Intelligent Key®. I drove 1994 BMW 740IL and the passenger side mirror usually will move down when i put my car on reverse so i can see the curb view, however it stop working just now when i get in my car to back out from a...


Make sure your mirror control switch is slid to the right. If the switch is in the left mirror position, it keeps the right mirror in the upward position when in reverse. When the switch is in right mirror position, it moves the right mirror in the downward position when in reverse. Hope this helps.

Shift to reverse, adjust the mirror for normal, and save that to memory for that operator. This is presuming that you have not found a setting to turn off reverse mirror settings.....

2003 gmc mirrors do not fold in


The power mirrors are controlled by a module (computer) DDM - drivers door module an the PDM - passenger door module .

Folding Mirror System Controls
The folding mirror system requires signals from 2 separate switches. The mirror select switch must be in the neutral/fold position and the mirror direction switch must be activated to the left/extend or right/retract positions. Both switches are integrated into the DDM and provide direct signals.
Folding Mirror System Operation
Upon receipt of the required switch inputs the DDM will supply battery voltage and ground to the mirror fold motor control circuits to perform the requested extend or retract function. The DDM will also send a class 2 message to the PDM indicating the requested function. The PDM will supply battery voltage and ground to the mirror fold motor control circuits to perform the requested extend or retract function.

• The driver door module--Class 2 module with integrated switches and requires programming when replaced

Each of the outside power mirrors contains 2 reversible motors to provide horizontal and vertical movement of the mirror glass. The vertical motor operates the up and down directions and the horizontal motor operates the left and right directions. If equipped with power folding mirrors, each outside power mirror will contain a reversible fold motor to operate the extend and retract functions. Each of the mirror motors are circuit breaker protected.
DTC B1722
The driver door module (DDM) and passenger door module (PDM) switch the mirror fold motor control circuits to battery voltage and ground in response to mirror extend or retract command.

Electric Mirrors do not work (Drivers & Passengers)


There are two power wires to the DDM - drivers door module .Both are orange ,one is powered by a fuse DDM fuse 15amp . in the left I/P fuse block , plus LT DOORS 25amp circuit breaker .
Power Mirror System Components
The power mirror system consists of the following components:
• The driver door module--Class 2 module with integrated switches and requires programming when replaced
• The passenger door module--Class 2 module with integrated switches, requires programming when replaced and also contains the RFA receiver

Each of the outside power mirrors contains 2 reversible motors to provide horizontal and vertical movement of the mirror glass. The vertical motor operates the up and down directions and the horizontal motor operates the left and right directions. If equipped with power folding mirrors, each outside power mirror will contain a reversible fold motor to operate the extend and retract functions. Each of the mirror motors are circuit breaker protected.

Do you know what DTC'S are ? Diagnostic trouble codes
DTC B1544, B1600, or B1605
DTC B1580, B1590, B1610, or B1620
• If DTC B1580 is set by itself, the left horizontal position sensor signal circuit maybe open, shorted to ground or battery
• If DTC B1590 is set by itself, the left vertical position sensor signal circuit maybe open, shorted to ground or battery
• If DTC B1610 is set by itself, the right horizontal position sensor signal circuit maybe open, shorted to ground or battery
• If DTC B1620 is set by itself, the right vertical position sensor signal circuit maybe open, shorted to ground or battery.
• If DTCs B1580 and B1590 are both set, the left 5 volt reference or low reference circuit(s) maybe open, shorted to ground or battery.
• If DTCs B1610 and B1620 are both set, the right 5 volt reference or low reference circuit(s) maybe open, shorted to ground or battery.
Need a factory scan tool to test !
Install a scan tool.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
With the scan tool, observe the mirror horizontal and vertical position parameters in the Driver Door Module (DDM) and Passenger Door Module (PDM) data lists.
Operate both the left and right mirrors through the full range of movements.
Does the scan tool indicate that the left and right mirror horizontal and vertical position parameters are within the specified range?
0.50-4.75 V.
Your best bet , take it to a GMC , Chevy , buick or cadillac dealer

sounds like it ,these fancy new cars and their electronics,a mechanics nightmare to be truthfull.try reading the manual again if still no success then take it back to dealer as you could have a fault in the controlling processor.

Power window mysteriously rolls itself down?


ther is a green light and two button on the side of the drivers side door, these buttons control the window side mirror and seat memory. if you read the owners manual it will tell you how to set etch one. did you know that if you set the little buttons on the door right, when you put the car in reverse the side mirrors will look down so you can see the curb when parking the return to same position when you put it back in drive.

A 1993 740iL power seat and mirrors stop working...the fuses are fine (i've tested them)...Can you tell me what else could be wrong? Thanks Lee


I've seen this before but it will only apply if you have memory seating....Check to see if one of the memory positions are stuck in the select position (stuck down) then the memory computer will lock out all control functions like the mirrors and driver seat functions
