The adjustment is found under the boot for the hand lever. You must remove or lift up the boot which surrounds the hand brake lever. Use a deep socket to tighten the nut on the end of the threaded shaft which is attached to the front end of the emergency brake cable. Make incremental adjustments to the cable. Test by using the hand lever after each adjustment to ensure that the emergency brake does not drag with the hand lever released.

1998 Mazda 626 How to replace Break Light Switch

The brake light switch is located behind the brake pedal. To replace the brake light switch, first disconnect wire couplink ,next unscrew the switch from behind the bracket. You will see a locknut holding it in place.Remove the lock nut and the brake light switch will come out easily. After replacing the brake light switch make sure that when the break pedal is in released position that the buton on the switch is pressed in. you may have to ajust the switch position to achieve this goal. Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Mazda 626 handbrake light comes on when I touch brakes

It's your disk pad wear indicator warning you of imminant replacement of pads . They ground electrically thru contact in brake pads and require attention. If light goes out it's not a level problem and cheap replacement .

Replaced the rear pads/rotors and calipers on a 2000 Mazda 626. Removed parking brake cable as per repair manual. However, after reinstalling the cable, I don't seem to be able to adjust the parling brake...

There should be an adjuster next to the handbrake lever. You may have to remove some trim to see it but it is in the general area of the lever.

Not 100% sure but peel back the handbrake lever cover.Beside the lever where the handbrake cable attaches there may be an adjuster there.Either directly on the cable itself or by locknuts threaded on the cable.Hope this helps

ABS, Traction control and handbrake light is on. Car was running on 3 cylinders previous to the lights coming on. 1999 Mazda SP20 Familia (323)

I have a Mazda Capella (626) 1998 and had similar problem other than it was running on 4 cylinders and the hand brake light was not on and the ANSWER was a speed sensor which is to do with ABS system needed replacing. You can determine which one is broken by putting volt meter over each of them.
