Question about 1997 Ford Explorer AWD
I took the broken glass out of of the passenger side view mirror. I discovered what looked like a heating element on the backing from the broken mirror and two electrical connectors. I just bought the car and reviewed the owner's manual and it does not mention heated mirrors nor a off/on button for heated mirrors. The replacement glass that I purchased did not have the heating element backing nor anyplace to reconnect the two electrical connections (I am ok with that). Is it correct to assume the car has heated mirrors? Do they come on automatically or perhaps when defrost is turned on? I am only curious at this point. Thank you.
It's not a heater it's probably a accusatory that adjusts the mirrior

Pop the plastic cover off that is on the inside side of the van. Unscrew the 3 or 4 screws and then disconnect the harness. Install in reverse order. You have to pry on the plastic a little but you won't break it.

Since it was just the glass that was broken, I had to remove the extra parts that came with the new mirror I purchased from Ford service department. Once I made the change it all made sense!

Aside from the fuses, your drive side power door lock may be failing to work because of a bad door-lock relay system, or, alternatively, the locking switch/button, itself, is not malfunctioning and in need of replacement.
A great handyman site that specifies the above probable causes and more is the following link:
