Question about 2000 Kia Sportage
This motor runs great at idle, the rear end hops off of a light, and it wont pull a hill, There is no code on the engine, i have replaced the timing belt the idler the tensioner, the tensioner spring, the woodruff key, the plugs, wires, pcv valve, alternator, starter, a few cracked vacuum lines, I cleaned all the sensors in the intake tube as well, replaced the fuel filter and the air filter, could this thing be stuck in 4 WD and there be some type of rev limiter?
Cad converter. take it off first and see if it works better. if not check injectors.

My theory is that it could be the injectors clogging. You could first try running a higher octane fuel, then if that doesn't seem to help try using the minimal amount of gas, and add injector cleaner to the tank. If all of this fails to work you can take your vehicle to the dealership where they can run a system analysis on it and help you pinpoint the problem. Hope this was helpful. Please rate my solution, thanks.

SOURCE: 4 wheel drive won't engage
Hello... My manual says that if your 4x4 doesn't engage could be because of a bent or broken rod, Broken chain in transfer case or a misaligned or broken transfer lever. not sure if this will help... also if you haven't already check your hubs. Are they locking in? Mine had the same problem it turned out to be the spring in the auto hub was broken.

SOURCE: 2000 kia sportage ex, 4 cyl.
Yes there is a sensor that controls Fuel/air ratio. It's called a MAF (mass air flow sensor)
But I think you should have the EGR (Exhaust gas recirculation)valve checked
and The TPS (throttle position sensor)maybe dirty.
Although may things can cause this issue,I would look at the items above first.
Please rate this a blue fixya

I have 2005 Kia Sportage with a check engine light. No other symptoms. I was told by Kia and Local mechanic that it is the fuel injectors. Error Code states that Fuel injectors are running lean. Put Master airflow- no change. Ran engine test with propane to run rich and trim never changed from 15. Car runs great. Kia dealer said that this is because we use Ethel in gas that it effects the alumium fuel rail delivery to the injectors and that it is necessary to change all of them .Kia Dealer wants $1,000.00 deposit to place order 6 fuel injectors from Kia. (Has anyone heard of that?)Also put fuel injector cleaner in tank.Does anyone have any suggestions before I spend over $1,000.00 to replace all 6 injectors or possible idea of what could be wrong?
