Most people don't own a torque wrench that goes past 150 lbs
& you can't push it that far

So if the nut was say 180 or 206 you have to stop at 140 & then
use a 3 foot 3/4 drive bar or ratchet & go another 1/8 turn.

Google the question,should be there

SOURCE: How to remove broken lug on 98 Elantra.

I think I know what you are talking about I have the same vehicle and everywhere I look people say the same thing. To hit it with a hammer and the bolts come out. But with this car the bolts are backed against the rotor. They are held in place via a metal plate that is bolted on top of it. I don't have the proper tools to remove the center nut (cv nut?). All together there is 4 bolts and the center cv nut locked in with a pin. Looks like after you take those off you can slide the cover plate off and just remove the bolts with your hands and put new ones in. They don't look like push threw bolts. They just sit on the front plate and are secured to the rotor. To get the plate off i would assume to tap it will a hammer around the sides. Not too hard jsut enought to loosen the rust. Still looking to see if this is the best solution for our particular wheel stud setup. There is no way to hammer them out. Don't think that was the original way they wanted it done so they put on the cover plate so all you have to do is remove bolts, take out stud, replace and put back on.

How to assemble a front wheel bearing on a 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4

The front wheel bearing is a hub and bearing assembly. To remove you will.... 1. Remove the tire 2. Remove the axle nut. You can put a punch in the fins of the rotor to keep the assembly from turning while you rmove the nut. You can can do the same thing when you torque the axle nut. 3. Remove the caliper and rotor. 4. Unplug the abs sensor if equipped. 5. Remove the three bolts that hold the hub to the knuckle. 6. Rmove the hub. If you need torque specs let me know and i'll get them for you. It is absolutely critical that you torque the axle nut to the proper spec!
