I have a 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara almost ran out of gas.I put gas in and now when I push the gas pedal the car barely moves I barely got home thepedal

running the pump dry is bad. on all EFI cars
the pump is fuel cooled and fuel lubricated
if you run any pump dry, you risk pump damage
but lets hope it not damaged, hope is good.
key on 10 times, hear it run?(the pump) let it run 10 times not started
and pray it works, and this trick primes it and gets all air out of the line
the 3 second run time is called just that auto prime.
then run it.
never run EFI cars dry, its a rule.
the dash chime told you it was low, ignore that at your risk.

RUNS WON'T IDLE SHUTS OFF

stalls. but does is restart, stalls hot and cold engine?
all the time? or just some times, what?
ever do a 60k mile tuneup this decade?
does fast right foot save the stall???????? key question !
  1. lost 12vdc power to EFI.
  2. if random stalls its not lost compression
  3. bad spark (tuneup time?) lost spark , kills all gas engines.
  4. bad fueling. too much or too little.
  5. if all above is good, then the ISC is stuck closed. lean it.

Car won't start...no check engine light

no engine, and LC has the largest numbers of engines of any car.
so no engine , no joy, the below is for all EFI cars. (Gas)
some are Diesel, so..... is yours GAS?
GAS:
the cel glows key on to say , the EFI has power (that's it)
and goes out running (and no DTCs stored)
the CEL has no meaning cranking, but can go out over 300 rpm.
what does COUNT is a scan tool, (any works , in USA)
it shows after cranking all 1996 and newer USA cars
up to 3 errors cranking for 5 second not less, and not more that 15s.
CMP error (cam sensor dead)
CKP error (crank sensor dead)
or dead RPM. Dead RPM is above bad. its just a double check.
to start , it needs.
:
1: a good engine, (compression tests win here) 150psi good 80 bad.
2: 12vdc to the EFI , no elect. power , no joy ever.....12vdc.
3: good spark and still timed right. if not right, cam belt slipped.
4 and good fueling,
there are test for each. if 1,2 and pass the tests
test fuel sprayed in to the induction starts all non flooded engines for
at least 3 seconds, does it?

stalls , moving, only. at stop lights or between gears.
but never just parked idling.
if its random , that would be the EGR valve sticking open.
if EFI , bad idle switch.
if Carb bad dash pot. on carb.

Yes timing is everything with motors if the cylinder isn't firing at the right time all u are doing is filling the cylinder with raw fuel and dumping it into exhaust un burned it can eventually ruin you're catalytic converters also, get it professionally timed you're truck will run like a champ, unles u already caused damage.

The fuel pump relay is the EFI relay in trhe fuse box under the hood right fender. I replaced it and the pump is working I can smell the gas. The truck still will not start. any sugestions?

Have you checked to see if it has spark at the spark plugs, let me know. Actually there are two relays for the fuel pump, the EFI relay and the circuit opening relay, the circuit opening relay gets voltage from the EFI relay. If the computer doesn't get a spark confirmation signal while cranking then the injectors are shut off.
