Question about Ford Escape
Goes up a mile every 12 seconds. Seatbelt alarm dings when turn signal is on. It is 95% of the time, and when one is ok, the other is ok. They go hand-in-hand.
I have looked at this for a while, you have a bad wire conection in the system but to find it would be a nightmare unless you take it to the shop and get a computer put onto the system, try running a lenth of wire like an earth wire from the top of engine to a bolt on the body of car if this works then the main earth strap from body to car is broken ,if this fails come back to me,.Adrian....

if you have a sunroof, the sunroof drains are clogged. either way you may have a bad door switch. you will have to pull each one out and look for corrosion at the plug. the fronts are most common, they are on either side of the dashboard.

Your car thinks a door is open , thus the light stays on. When you lock the doors with the remote it activates the alarm system. 10 sec later it senses that the a door is open and alarm sounds.
I have a 99 passat as well and I just went outside to see where the switch on the door is. Can't see one anywhere , it must be inside the door (part of the latch mechanism). I tried to arm the alarm system by locking the doors with the remote while the door was still open , sure enough the alarm went off about 15 secs later.

un hooking the battery doesnt reset the computer much with a OBDII system,Its possible if you didnt unhook the battery when changing the odometer that static got into the circuit board. For example:i used to own a 1992 Buick Regal that the odometer wasnt working,i took it to Buick and they could not Fix it,it was under warranty at the time, they paid me $100.00 for me to go away,OK,i bought a book but that didnt help,i accidentally ran a screwdriver across the circuit board with the battery disconnected and saw a spark, after that it worked fine for years.Im assuming that static was the problem.Maybe pull yours out again with the battery disconnected and turn on the key to absorb any stored electricity, and unhook it and reinstall may do the trick. But this may not be the problem or answer to fix it,but its something to try.

Testimonial: "I did what you suggested , and reinstalled the od and had to click the key on and off several times to get the needle back to zero, it is now working."
Hello. This happens when one of the bulbs is starting to go bad. pull all of the turn signal bulbs and look carefully at each one. you will find one with the filaments crossed. Replace that one. J.
