Strange noises the noise happens only when pushing on the gas it sounds similar to a belt problem and the noise gets louder as it's about to shift into gear its a whining noise almost like a turbo I drove the car for one year without the noise replaced brakes and tires very curious what this could be
larry thank you very much I thought it had something to do but the pulleys. just so you can educate me why does it do it only when pushing on the gas even more so driving not really being able to hear it when its in parklarry thank you very much I thought it had something to do but the pulleys. just so you can educate me why does it do it only when pushing on the gas even more so driving not really being able to hear it when its in park
Not uncommon for pulley noise to only occur at higher RPMs. If it doesn't happen in park when revving could be a drive-train issue. Not uncommon for pulley noise to only occur at higher RPMs. If it doesn't happen in park when revving could be a drive-train issue.

Most certainly belt or accessory noise. My guess is the tensioning wheel bearing is shot. Take the belt off and see if the tension wheele spins smooth or rattles

Possible bearing in one of the drive pulleys. I have changed numerous alternators for this noise. Take the belt off and start the car. If the noise goes away you know it will be pulley related and not transmission related. If noise goes away, spin all pulleys by hand to determine the defective/noisy one
sounds like you have a wheel bearing that's bad, some vehicles have the wheel sensor mounted right to the wheel bearing.
best way to check is drive down a straight road at a steady speed, then turn the wheel left, like your going to change lanes, then do the same but this time turn the wheel to the right.
Now if the noise is louder when you turn left, then that tells you the right wheel bearing is bad, if you turn right and the noise is greater, then your left wheel bearing is bad.
the reason for this, is when you shift the vehicle left or right, the weight of the body shifts the opposite way that you are turning, thus putting more weight on the bearing, causing it to get louder.
Hope this helps.
It sounds like the alternator has went out. They have bearings in them that eventually wear out. When this happens, they can make a screaching noise, or the bearing itself can lock up, causing the belt to slip and make a similar noise. Both of these scenarios will get louder as you accelerate. When the alternator is not charging your battery correctly, your vehicles electrical system will drain the battery.
sounds like it may be bad wheel hub bearing. wen going down road with no traffic steer left then right left right and see if noise gets louder and softer wen weight shifts from side to side. if it does u may need to get new hub bearings
If you get the squealing noise even when car is not running, and if noise get louder when you push the accelerator pedal, then it is the serpentine belt.
You may need to put the belt in tension, or to replace it.
Take the belt back off and by hand turn Everything the belt turns. One by one turn and feel and listen. Alot of times its the belt tensioner pully bearing. But it could be the water pump, alt.
Check it out it will be easy with the belt off and a cold engine.
might be one of your catalytic converters clogging up. usually happens after engine has been running for a time? mostly heard when you let off the gas pedal? does the noise appear to be coming from the transfer case area? i thought i was having tranny problems, but turned out to be one of the catalytic converters. whew....
